Hotel con piscina a Mi Chai

We travelled up to Nong Khai for the recent balloon Festival and had a room booked at the Royal Nakhara Hotel. As we drove in to the hotel car-park, we were impressed from the outside. Check-in was quick and easy and when we entered our allocated room, it was obvious that the décor and furnishings were a bit tired and dated - but not a problem. However, as we looked around at the room and amenities we noticed several things to disappoint us. First, we saw an enormous birds nest sat right on top of the aircon unit outside on the balcony. The balcony doors were locked (with no key) so we could not even go onto the balcony, but as the view from the balcony was of surrounding metal factory roofs, we had no great urge to go onto the balcony anyway. Walking around the room and bathroom we noticed quite a lot of long black hairs on the floor, obviously from the previous guests and when checking out the bathroom, noticed toothpaste stains and splashes all over the washbasin mirror above and, human defecation waste around the rim of the toilet basin. It was obvious that the room had not been cleaned to a sufficient standard for the next guests. We really did not feel comfortable to stay here and notified the front desk, where a member of the management team and the housekeeper came to check on our findings. After showing them what we were unhappy with, the two members of staff went into the bathroom to discuss it but we could hear them talking and were shocked to hear that they thought we were making a fuss over trivial things. We decided that we were not comfortable to stay in the hotel any longer and asked to cancel the booking and we would find an alternative hotel. The staff initially refused to cancel the booking, then agreed, but said we would need to wait 15-30 days to receive a refund, which was not acceptable, considering that payment had been made instantly when booking the room. After further discussion and upon our insistence, the hotel did refund us the cost of the room and we sought to find alternative accommodation. We have no problem with a room being tired or dated, but that is no excuse for it not to be clean also, and the attitude to our concerns we heard being discussed (”its just only this, its only that”) were simply not acceptable for a service industry facility.

La prenotazione è la più costosa e si trova che è luminosa, spaziosa e bello. Il personale è amichevole e sorridente e disposto a fornire il servizio che possono. La colazione è ok, ma il caffè non è così buono. Ho chiesto un caffè fresco ma devo aspettare dopo, perché il personale che prepara arriva più tardi intorno 09.00 ma dobbiamo lasciare per un'altra area. Finora così buona per la zona intorno nong Khai. Il proprietario è bello e molto utile.

I paid a little more to get a nice window view of the Mekong River, but the pool side garden view of the river was open to any guest. The room was large and comfortable. The shower was nice and hot. Food and coffee are a little far away, but the owners called a tuk tuk for me which was there in 5 minutes.

Abbiamo prenotato e pagato con Agoda mentre su un Tuktuk. Arrivarono pochi minuti dopo e hanno ricevuto la nostra prenotazione. Il prezzo al conto della Reception è inferiore al prezzo pagato con Aguda ma non sono sicuro che tipo di camera sarà con questo tasso. La nostra stanza è bella. Ci è una base in legno abbastanza grande da mettere 2 mattoni su. L'aria condizionata è un po' rumorosa. C'è un balcone che è bello. Ci sono 2 bottiglie d'acqua gratis nel frigorifero ma nessun caldaio d'acqua per fare caffè. Dobbiamo andare alla Reception dove forniscono caffè istantaneo e acqua calda. C'è un ascensore che è un plus quando abbiamo bagagli pesanti. Al di là del complesso Lotus e shopping Asawann 1 dove c'è un furgone per Udon Thani ogni ora.
