We have been blessed to travel the world and never have we been guests in such an elegant, welcoming hotel. Hotel is really the wrong word. Mansion Merida was built as a private Villa in 1600's and the current owner, Don Raul Casares G Canton, has heavily invested in its restoration. Raul is present most mornings to greet you over breakfast. This alone is why 'hotel' does not begin to describe Masion Merida. The breakfast was included and is the best in Mexico! You feel like you are living as royalty in Masion Merida. The location is perfect for walking the historical city, strolling the Paseo, shopping, eating out and taking a free tour to learn the history of Merida. The rooms are HUGE! Well, it is a palace. Each room has hand painted decor, a sitting area, and opens to an atrium, pool, or garden. We spent 3 nights and are already planning our return trip. I should also mention the restaurant serves the best happy hour, meals, and tapas.
