The Crown & Anchor

Dreadful standard. The rooms are shabby, the bathroom was dirty and all of the details were missing; no coat hooks, broken wall sockets, horrible paintings on the wall. Just grim. Beneath the TV, the wires simply hung down. We paid £130 for the night and it was nowhere near worth it.

Great classic pub. The bar staff were friendly and helpful with beer and food suggestions. Fish and chips did not disappoint. Plenty of seating options. Nice clientele. Walking distance to a number of shops and other restaurants in the area. I’d definitely return

Lovely friendly pub staff were really helpful and friendly, we ordered the Sunday dinner and the cheese and onion pie , came out hot, and tasted delicious 😋 we will definitely be coming back , the pub is dog friendly so when I come back I will be bringing my fur baby with me definitely 5 stars .

DO NOT BOOK A ROOM HERE! Wouldn't even give 1 star! Absolutely appalling ownership, they should not be running a business! Booked for 1 night with friends to go and see busted at the arena, planned to make a night of it and go out afterwards bit that was all ruined when we go to the pub and it was closed! Signs everywhere saying it was under construction! No contact to let us know beforehand so we could try and arrange something else, just let us turn up and find out like that, absolutely disgusting! Tried ringing with no luck so rang *********** who I booked the room through, they was appalled too as they hadn't been made aware either, did everything to try and find us somewhere else to stay at the cost of the Crown and anchor but there was nowhere available as it was a busy weekend so ended up having to drive home instead. Do not waste your money and have your weekend ruined by these unprofessional, inconsiderate and downright appalling excuses for human beings.

Booked months in advance on one the busiest weekends ,trains on strike so had to drive down planning to stay over for a 21st birthday only to turn up and the place was shut for construction omg with no warning no messages nothing , we only paid few days prior they must of been shut then but still took our money ,we tried to contact but they hung up on us so we were stranded no where to go ,other hotels wanting 400 a rm per night that we just could not afford ,so ended up coming home back to stoke ,absolute joke ,do not book this hotel shocking

Room stank of stale smoke, cups and kettle manky,it’s a shared bathroom with all rooms on the floor and I’m pretty sure the homeless wouldn’t even use it. We stayed for two nights and I would’ve rather spent the wkend in the jail. Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else.
