Almost all staffs are kind and nice people. The facility is simple but it's fair for the price and clean. The food is simple too but is also good. My problem there was with the manager. He seems to want all the control of what people will get as taxi boat or day trips. As we are in a island, the only way to go out the resort is through the boat. We have to organize with the manager and everything that he books get late for begin and for pick up you at some place. And when we try to book something takes ages to get confirmation and when we try to ask something they don't have anything to say. Very disorganized. The first thing was that he said that don't have the big boat to pick up us in the main port to the resort in the arrival because we arrive after hour. It cost us double of the price to get the private boat from the resort that keep us waiting more than 30 min in other port that wasn't the main one. After all this, we discovery that had big boat from the main island in different hours and half of the price that we paid. Second: we were there, as i said, island, not much phone service and the only way to move is get the boat. All our day trips booked with him got late. The worst one was in our last day we booked with him the cloud 9 trip from 2pm to 6pm. The boat he booked arrived 15min late so we arrived after the hour we booked and when was 6pm no one appear to pick up us. The cloud 9 closes at 6pm and just us stayed there waiting for more then 50 min until someone pick up us. And someone just picked up because the cloud 9 crew called someone to help us. When we arrived at the resort i spoke with the manager about it and he was very rude and said the hour of our pick up for the next day, only. He didn't apologies, he didn't say anything about let us waiting 50 min with the cloud 9 closed. Also, the the pick up to leave the resort to the airport got late too. But we manage to arrive in the Musket resort that helped us and organize our return to the main port. Staffs from Cloud 9 and other resorts said that it often happen. It's not the first time. Apparently the manager try to get everything for him, book more than one group with the same boat and someone stay waiting. Worst service ever. I do not recommend this resort to anyone. Specially because you are in a island and need the boat for leave to any place. Check the reviews and go to a place that treat you with respect and follow the agreement. Funky fish resort don't have respect with the customers and don't follow the agreement.

If you're visiting Fiji to surf and are trying not to break your budget, the Funky Fish is your spot. The staff is AMAZING - they are so attentive, and want to make your stay the best it can be. I was traveling with a group of friends, and our other accommodation got delayed due to rain. Within 2 hours of reaching out to the Funky Fish, we were on a bus headed to their boat to transport us to Malolo island. They provided a level of service I'd expect from a luxury property (which this is not, but that is ok). We stayed in the air conditioned rooms at the top of the hill. It's everything you need for a surf trip - a good bed, a shower, a sink, and a place for your boards and swimsuits to dry. The included meals are also great, the pool is fab, and the drinks were delish. 10/10 would recommend for the right traveler.

The best resort for the Malolo island . It cost nothing as the food is fantastic and the Fijian people are so friendly lovely people we were looked after like kings and queens. We met so many great people and we treasure the memories. Definitely going back. You don’t need to stay at a 5 star resort to have a fantastic time. Everything you want to do and see they will take you anywhere. And tumeuli the manager is the best . Anything you need he will get . Thanks Pete and Mandy .

Staff gentle, but no organisation for any tour . Breakfast poor , dinner and lunch food so so . Beach is normal and nothing to do .

Beautiful area, lovely little huts, relaxing experience. Food was great. Good value for money.

** A Real Review For 2023 - 2024 ** ** Save Your Sanity Go Somewhere Else ** Funky Fish in its current state is NOT worth your money. You will leave disappointed and be miserable during your stay. Summary: Food is Terrible Management and Front of House are clowns The Rooms are Depressing and Dirty The Views and grounds keepers are nice. The Good : The view from the bungalows are absolutely beautiful to wake up to. It's in close proximity to cloud 9 , cast away Island, honey moon island (snorkeling) and cloud break (surfing). The grounds keepers are super friendly. But " DONT " let a few good things fool you. The Bad : The First problem : The management & Front of house are absolute monkeys and have no clue what they are doing. They have no respect for the guest. Something as simple as arranging to go snorkeling or go to cloud 9 could take you days to get a conformation if ever, and if you ever confront them about any issues they " WILL " just walk away mid sentence. The Food : it is a joke, you are paying to have meals included, but unless you love your food covered in oily grease , cooked in an unclean kitchen or taste like utter garbage then you will not enjoy the food. There is NO MENU they will serve you what ever random things they cook up. They day we arrived lunch was soggy rice , a putrid seafood and cream dish and greasy noodles thats it. The Room: From the out side the room looks nice but inside is a grey box of despair, no décor , grey walls on all sides with just a Bible in the corner. The sheets and towels were always dirty or had stains of blood or brown on them bed bugs are included, the bathroom does its job besides the shower not draining. Please take this advice Save your self a lot of money and misery and find another Resort.

Did not get a key despite requesting. Pool not available and not notified. Rodents. Trash on beach. Left a day earlier than reservation

Our stay at funky fish was very disappointing. It was nearly impossible to get any information or help from the staff and you feel stuck here because the manager controls all your boat transfers and that's the only way to do anything. My wife was served a moldy wrap on our second day for lunch and the staff acted like they knew it was moldy. The rooms are very minimal and the sheets had stains. The main common area wasn't enjoyable either because all the chairs and the pool felt dirty. If the surf conditions don't look good at tavarua, don't stay here under any condition.

We stayed in Funky Fish resort for three awesome days !We had some nice surf at the nearby World class surf brakes .Everything was just excellent. We did n’t expect much, but we were surprised how beautiful the place was and well managed by manager Tumeli . He kindy organized everything for us Three meals / day were included, and the food was really good ! Highly recommended

My visit at Funky Fish was great. The staff was super friendly, the surf boat was captain super knowledgeable and experienced and took us on the best spots around. The food at the resort was delicious and plentiful. Will definitely come back to Funky Fish on my next trip to Fiji! Bula Bula!!

This is hidden jem. Went there on 17th October,stayed for 4 nights & what a beautiful place to unwind & relax. Staff are very friendly. If you're a surfer,then its a perfect place to stay too(surfers domain if i may say). Staff takes you to wherever you like to go. Went to Cloud surf break,Nomotu Left reef break(heaps of surf breaks), Went snorkelling in Honeymoon reef,went to floating bar called Cloud 9,the boys did their ledge jump(we had so much fun).Went on boat ride to neighboring island called Musket Cove, it has grocery store. I advise you to ask for prices first when your buying specially in their restaurant. Anyway, credit to the resort manager of funky fish for being so accomodating & helpful to all our request.Thanks team for making our holiday fun & memorable one, you guys deserve another star. We stayed at the Funky Fish for four nights and it was great. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the bure’s were fresh and cosy, the food was delicious and the views were amazing. The manager organised day trips for us including snorkeling, cloud nine, cloud break and musket cove. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants a relaxing getaway.

Wonderful place to stay, great value for the money. All meals included were delicious. The manager was so welcoming and helpful and all the staff were very friendly. The resort and island and all surrounding areas were beautiful and we had the best weather. We highly recommend and we will definitely come back again.
