Super 8 by Wyndham Los Angeles Downtown

Los Angeles|1.6km dal Yang Chow Restaurant
When I made the original reservation, even though the reservation included parking, they wanted the customer to request the use of the parking spaces. I requested a “handicap” parking space on booking.com, and I called the property and was told by a gentleman that the front spaces were closer to the entrance except that on our arrival those spaces were occupied and the handicap space was vacant. While I understand that the handicap space or any space is first come and first serve… Today, I encountered the property’s misuse of its handicap parking by allowing their housekeeper to use the handicap parking space for their personal use. Instead of asking their housekeeper to move the vehicle out of the parking space which is reserved for customers with disabilities who have legally obtained a handicap placard or license plate, they resorted with threats to have my car towed so that the house keeper could continue to park there while she served yogurt to guests during a “self service” continental breakfast. My mother has stage 4 breast cancer that has spread to her lungs and can no longer walk long distances, and my father who has dementia and requires a walking aid and walking assistance due to complications from 3 back surgeries. Almost 100% of the time, I have to park and assist my parents into whatever building or location we are going to. Both are permanently disabled in the State of California and are in their late 70s. I called when I arrived, when I saw a Red Toyota suv without a proper handicap license plate or a placard identifying that the driver or passenger of the car has a disability and right to use of the only handicap space on the entire property. The female who answered, rudely commented that I park in the front, but all the spaces were taken. Then I was instructed to “drop off” my parents in the entrance which is in the drive way entering the property on Sunset Blvd, which would block the entrance and looked dangerous to allow my parents to get out of car at that location and leave my car unattended to walk my parents inside of the building. Instead, I left my car with the handicap placard parallel to the house keeper’s suv that unlawfully occupying the only handicap space while I walked into the building with my parents, only to receive a threat from the female at the front desk that my car would be towed. When I asked if she was going to look for the owner of the car, she replied she didn’t have time, but had time to call a tow truck. My car was not blocking anyone except for the unlawfully parked suv in the handicap space. I called the Los Angeles Police Department to ask for advise for the current situation and was advised that I could wait for the housekeeper to remove her suv from its current location. When I asked the female at the front desk if “she” was going to move “her” car, I was told by the female at the desk, that she didn’t know who the car belonged to, but proceeded to say that “she” wasn’t going to move “her” car a

Best Western Plus Dragon Gate Inn

DO NOT STAY HERE! The biggest problem with this motel is the parking. There are a limited number of parking spots for guests of the motel. The staff failed to mention that it is PUBLIC parking not private parking for The Royal Pagoda Motel guest. Meaning anyone can park there, when ever they want, as long as they want. When booking a room I brought up the concern of the limited parking. The motel employee I spoke to said there is more parking on the side. I thought they meant on the side of the motel, another parking lot or garage. NOPE! He meant against the side of the main building of the motel with the very small parking lot. Nearby Chinatown has a very active night life so forget about parking in the street. If you leave for the evening and return later that night here is what they do when there is absolutely no legal parking. They will have you park against the side of the building or have you double park or triple park. Basically they will fill up the driveway of the parking lot blocking other cars in. A motel employee will ask for your room number and phone number. They will call you to move your car if you are blocking someone who needs to get their car out. Yes even at 2 a.m. when you are asleep. Myself and a few other guests of the motel had to move our cars for a non-guest of the motel. I asked the employee who called me to move my car how this person got an actual spot and he said he had no idea. While moving our cars the employee was trying to direct the non-guest out of the parking lot I witnessed a hit and run. The non-guest backed into a parked car in the motel parking lot. That driver and the motel employee acted like nothing had happened. At this point there was finally street parking. I felt my car would be safer parked out on the street a block away from the motel. And the other motel guests who had to move their cars were fighting for whatever space was available in the motel parking lot. Another thing is that the rooms are very small and this motel is old. Several electrical outlets in my room did not work. I could not plug in my phone or laptop chargers. Plus the parties in the Chinatown may end at a certain time but that doesn’t stop people from coming into the motel to keep the party going.
Metro Plaza Hotel

This is not an hotel. It's a dorm that rents some of their unused rooms at an hotel-like rate, so you're paying for an hotel service without receiving it. Please, stop advertising this place as an hotel, because it is not. This place has no AC (something that I knew beforehand, and I was OK with that) but the room gets much hotter than the ambient temperature and the fans in the room don't help at all. It would be definitely cooler to sleep outside at night. The whole place is poorly maintained and there is a penetrating stench within the building. You can clearly see stains on the carpet and there was no room service. Management tried to keep a photocopy of my debit card, which is NOT OK and probably even illegal. Management might justify the current state of the building as it being old and historic, but I've been at hotels that are centuries older than this property and they were definitely up to a higher quality of service. If this would haven been branded as an hostal with reasonable prices, I'd give it a better rating without hesitation. But I was expecting and paying for an hotel and your property, services and prices do not adhere to that standard. The only upside is that the staff was friendly and tried its best to accommodate all my requests, so here's a shout-out to them. Sadly, that doesn't make up for the low quality standard that this place is offering. My advice to the management: You should either invest more on your property to elevate your level of service (I've been told that some refurbishing works involving AC installation are expected), or just stop advertising yourselves as an hotel. My advice to travelers: Downtown LA is full of weird people and homeless. Book this place if and only if you're having an emergency and your only alternative is to sleep in the street without a roof, and then move to a proper hotel west or north of the city afterwards. To summarize: Not an hotel, but an overpriced dorm.
