Hotel a 3 stelle a Laugarbakki

Restaurant Bakki is an oasis of high-quality cuisine in the wilds of northwest Iceland, just off the Ring Road and close to Hvammstangi. It’s the in-house eatery for Hótel Laugarbakki, a former school building now converted into a 3-star hotel. I found myself there two weeks ago on the first night of a Ring Road trip, camping at Langafit. Taking a look around, I discovered Restaurant Bakki was a potential for dinner, having been warmly welcomed by Inga at reception. So I made a reservation and went off to explore Hvammstangi. When I returned, I was treated to an excellent chicken dish with a splendid white wine. The food was expertly prepared and presented, and the service was subtle, smooth and superb. Restaurant Bakki enjoys splendid views of the Miðfjörður area and the dining room is of an excellent standard, with enormous windows making the most of its setting. All in all, it was an ideal solution for my first night in Iceland! Thanks to Inga and the team for a great dining experience.
