Rooiberg Safaris

Rooiberg Wild, is a lovely game-farm, but with limited wild animals. Roads on the farm are NOT made for normal vehicles, so you cant go do a game drive on your own. You therefore limited to game drives, which is informative and fun, but can become a bit boring. The accommodation is typical but no air-conditioning due to Rooiberg only using solar and inverter systems. The staff at Rooiberg needs to mentioned, as they work really very hard, and made our trip very special. Food was great and the bar stock all the local everyday type of drinks. My overall rating is that its a bit too expensive for what you get, but i would definitively recommend this if you need a break from the city chaos.

Everything was wonderful, however we really would have appreciated more milk and filter coffee for the coffee station in the room. There were two thorn trees that obscured our beautiful view of the valley from our balcony. Eugene does so much and is basically "the face" of the Lodge. He deserves uniform that he can be proud of (without holes). We also feel that he has tremendous talent and potential, and investing in furthering his knowledge would benefit both parties. Small examples are that of Bird and Mammal Apps to aid in showing pictures and playing sounds for the guests and for him to keep track of sightings. The food was soooo lovely. Corkage at R80 is quite high. One should be able to bring wine that one likes and not be forced to settle for significantly marked-up wine that is not necessarily that good. One pays quite a lot for the getaway already.

The staff, service, rooms and food could not be bettered. The game drives were wonderful and the guide extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the wildlife, birds and plants. Absolutely perfect. Our only complaint was the lack of fresh milk. Only long life/UHT milk was available.

Our recent two day trip to Rooiberg Wild was incredible! Eugene, our guide, made the game drives truly memorable with his extensive knowledge and passion for wildlife. His expertise and enthusiasm were infectious. The accommodation was excellent, the food delicious, and the staff incredibly friendly.

We had a wonderful time. The staff there really knew how to bend backwards to give us a wonderful time. It was no big issue to even change the menu for old grumpy, myself. The game drives were excellent. Our driver and guide knew where to find the game. It was very interesting to tap his knowledge about the plants in the area.

special experience - not much of a game drive. Eugene and his team do a good job, very friendly and they do a hell of work as they are responsible for the whole lodge. Game drive was nice but we did not see that much, landscape was fascinating. Dinner and breakfast service was special not very professional

our stay at Rooiberg was wonderful. Beautiful venue with outstanding rooms. The service from the staff was excellent. Very friendly and attentive staff. The meals were very great. We went out during the day and would not be there for lunch and requested a sandwich for the road for lunch but got an amazing platter packed and wrapped with chicken wraps, salad and dressing. Simply delicious. I would highly recommend a visit to Rooiberg Wild.

WOW! This was absolutely a 5 star experience, from being greeted with lovely fresh cool towels and a welcome drink to the beautiful Klein Karoo showing off its magnificent beauty. Our room was clean very comfortable and had such a unique view in to the reserve, waking up and seeing the animals so close was really special. The meals were exceptional I requested gluten free meals in advance, the Chef and kitchen staff really made every meal more tastier then the next had to finish every last crumb. It was the attention to small detail like every evening's turn down service with a sweet treat, fresh towels without a request and refill of coffee etc everyday that will see us coming back. The game drive was super informative thanks to Eugene, we learned so much! Overall a absolute gem of a stay and excellent value!!

We celebrated my husband's 50th birthday. Our accommodation was lovely, with a good-sized bath and shower. Even though it was hot and there was no air conditioning (solar energy), the high velocity fan did its work so well that we bought one when we returned home. The food was good - more than sufficient at each mealtime. The staff go out of their way to make you feel special. They are all friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable during the game drives. Our only negative is that there were 2 families with very loud children who took over the limited amenities, making it a challenge to spend time relaxing at the pool, etc.
