Before we stay at Sowaka, we knew this hotel is a small luxury hotel in Kyoto. When we enter the hotel, the staff will welcome you in the entry and ask your reservation name. Then they will invite you to take a rest in the rest room and help you to process the check-in. The staff are very nice and try to help you to resolve the problems. After the check-in, they will ask you the stay practice, for example, what time you would like to have the breakfast and what style of breakfast would like to have ( Japanese / Western). Also, they will ask you the dinner planning and suggest you can enjoy the dinner in their hotel. This time we go out for the dinner and we will ask you need the taxi services or not? They can help you to call the taxi. We back to hotel around 9:30pm, the staff take the initiative to us for the hotel visit and introduce the hotel & room facilities. We feel very warm and enjoy the stay. For the breakfast, the staff are welcome the guests when the guest enter the restaurant. They also introduce what kind of food they serve in the breakfast. The food is good and delicious. We would like to buy a Monchhichi in Kyoto but we cannot find a shop. Then we ask the staff to help us to find the shop or more information of Monchhichi. They are very passionate to help us and call the shop to ask the information. Each time when we back to hotel, Front Office staffs are welcome us and will say 'welcome back', make us feel like home. The room price is a little bit expensive but it is worth it. My husband love to stay at this hotel and we will return stay next time.

What a beautiful hotel in a perfect location! The staff were incredible. The property is a mix of personalization with historic context and beauty, combined with a modern feeling of the utmost customer service. Best of both worlds. A unique boutique feel to the entire property that cannot be copied. A feeling a harmony. At breakfast, by the second day the entire staff knew us. Really a wonderful place if you are looking luxury in a private setting.
