Not the most modern venue in Joensuu but clean and well maintained anyway. Location is excellent in downtown. Big disappointment was the hotel parking that was advertised as free. It was free but obviously too small for demand, so it was fully booked every evening. My room was big, especially the bathroom was about the size of a small hotel room. It was an "accessible room", although I did not ask for it. I consider it an upgrade. The breakfast was excellent to my taste.

Very basic, austere and plain. Less than average breakfast. Nothing particularly bad, but it felt very 1960's, without the good bits. Parking was available, but limited to a first-come, first served basis. Good location in the city centre.

Stayed at the Scandic Joensuu for two nights. Poor overall experience. On arrival an issue with room key cards, they did not function for 4 hours. Receptionist opened room doors, lights not working etc. Generally everage service and breakfast offering and also hotel is quite outdated. Cannot really recommended

Poor breakfast service. People wait coffee for 1/2 hour. No excuse, no explanation. I dont know what went wrong. The girls did work all the time, but not for the guests. No smoothie, no tomatoes, no pancake, no cake, no normal milk, no service.

Still feels like a 70s style hotel. Very basic in the room (no coffee maker, kettle or such) but adequate.
Good Breakfast spread appreciated.

The location is very good in the city center, just next to market. Walking distance from railway station is less than 10 minutes. The service at the hotel was quite friendly, but I was so disappointed they did not informed me beforehand about legionella bacterial in the water. They said it is not advisable to have a shower at all and that was a big minus after travelling about 4,5 hours and arriving quite late in the hotel. The room itself was clean and ok basic level, I would say 3 stars. The room was quiet. The breakfast was also basic, nothing suprising there but good.

Nice hotel center of Joensuu, big room, good breakfast. Easy to come, parking are not very big, but enough. Early room was good for us, sauna was big and very good size. Good restaurants were easy to find.

This hotel is a former Cumulus hotel and it shows in the outdated decor. However, Cumulus rooms are usually very practical. So was our Superior Family Four room which is the biggest room type at this hotel. The breakfast is served in the former Martina restaurant located underground. This place would also need a complete make-over. However, the breakfast buffet was in immaculate condition, although the breakfast time was near its end. One man was effectively replenishing the buffet. The reception staff was very friendly. Our stay in a Superior Family Four room had an excellent value for the senior rate of 124 euros. My partner got also as a Scandic TOP Level member a small welcome gift and a 15-euro voucher for the bar or room minibar.

Parking places very limited, even thought Joensuu is not a big city. There is a parking hall in the hotel, but they have only 5 parking places there and they must be booked in advance. Why only 5 places, cause hall is much bigger? Outside they have 16 places, but they were all full. Then you have to park some 400 meters away, in some market's parking hall. Breakfast ok, but due to lack of personnel, it does not work very well. All tables full of dirty dishes, cause they don't have time to clean them. Orange juice ran out. Then coffee and then even coffee sugar ran out. This poor waitress tried to do her best, but I think she was alone. And last, hotel receptionist was quite rude, when I gave her some complaints. She would need an attitude chance or a new job. For 140 €/ night, you would expect some level of service. (Remember, this is Joensuu, not Manhattan). I spend +150 nights yearly in hotels around the Europe, but this hotel I won't come back. Next two night I'll stay at the competitors place
