Close to so many great waterfalls, the Porcupine Mountains, surrounded by the Ottawa National Forest and just a short drive to Lake Superior. You'll be surrounded by some of the best areas for outdoor recreation in Michigan.There are 2 full bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. The first bedroom has a queen size bed and a queen size bunk bed with a twin bunk. There is an attached full bathroom with a shower and whirlpool tub. The second bedroom has 3 twin beds. There is another full bathroom off the kitchen with a stand up shower, washer and dryer. A convenient mud room is located at the back entrance of the home. There is plenty of room to unpack your gear and secure storage. A covered porch is located off the dining room area.The rental is located in a 2-story 100+ historical building that used to be a lodge for the Independent Order of Oddfellows. It has since been remodeled in to 2 separate homes. The rental is on the entire first level of the building. The second level is our private residence, which is separated by a subfloor for privacy. Our vibes are a blend of outdoorsy inspired northwoods nostalgia balanced with some comforts you’d find at home (picture cozy linens, comfy beds, a rainfall style shower head, the crackle of a campfire under the stars, and a warm cup of coffee/tea). Hosting is so much more to us than just renting out our cabin. We strive to help create a memorable experience for our guests! A bit about our location: perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, we are situated along the banks of the Floodwood River, and we are a few miles from the public beach for Lake Superior access. During peak snow season, bring your sleds and ride (safely) along the shoulder of the highway to the trailhead (3mi)! If conditions are just right, you may even fall asleep to the sound of the waves of the big lake, or stay up late and catch a glimpse of the breathtaking dance of the northern lights! The cabin sits on serene 32 acres of private wooded property so you are welcome to explore, snowshoe (provided for guests in winter) and relax to your hearts content. We are located just a few miles from town, where you’ll find a selection of shops, groceries, gas as well as options for dining out (we reccommend The Squeeze!). We are also approx 20 miles away from Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park including Lake of the Clouds, all levels of hiking trails, waterfalls, beaches, cc and downhill skiing and more! There are plenty of nearby snowmobile, atv and hiking trails/UP adventure hotspots (Bond Falls, Agate Falls, etc. or take the ferry to Isle Royale) within an hour or so radius of the cabin; the possibilities are endless no matter what season you visit! Interior cabin amenities include: the main floor is wheelchair accessible, has a covered porch with spacious entryway, full bath with tile shower, petite yet well equipped kitchen and wet bar as well as a dining and living area. There are two queen beds, one on the main floor and one up in the loft, sleeping a total of 4 people. Upstairs, opposite the sleeping area, you’ll find a desk for creatives and a cozy reading nook. We have internet service for you to work remotely, but also encourage you to disconnect and take time to enjoy a hobby of yours or explore the outdoors! Speaking of outdoor space: Please be respectful our occasional animal visitors, including deer, hummingbirds, river beavers, and more! We have a firepit with chairs as well as a trail down to the river. There is a very large and level gravel area with plenty of room for parking and unloading trailers for those of you who are visiting us to snowmobile or ATV/side by side on the local trails! Hello & Welcome to Little Bear! Our cozy tiny home is located in a quiet area just minutes from Lake Superior & many UTV/ATV/Snowmobile Trails. The Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park and Lake of The Clouds are just a 20 minute drive away. This little getaway has free WIFI, a bedroom w/a short queen bed & 2 twin size sofa sleepers in the living area, bathroom w/tub shower combo & toilet. Home is supplied with linens, towels, pots/pans & kitchenware (plates, bowels,etc). Essentially just bring your own shampoo etc.., food, condiments, coffee, BBQ Supplies & you are all set! Living room (which also turns into a 2nd bedroom) has a TV w/ an Amazon Fire Stick. Outdoor space is just over a acre & includes parking for 2/3 vehicles, fire ring & a spacious deck w/ a charcoal grill & table w/chairs. The owners also own the 9 acres right next to the property. So plenty of room for all your trucks & trailers. Our little village has a small mall with a few stores with a few gift shops, salon & the Yooper Diner. The Legion which is open to the public, just a short distance away along with the Koteka Restaurant & Bar which has a small convenience store with gas and offsale. Street dead ends in front of the house and becomes short pathway to one of the largest sandy beaches of Lake Superior. 1932 cottage has been restored and renovated including 28 new blinds and a newly carpeted upstairs 400 sq ft open living and sleeping area with new bathroom overlooking the habitat of trees that separate the house from the big Lake. The 1932 hardwood maple floors have been restored on main floor and bathroom has been renovated but original tub with shower remains. Adjacent bedroom has sliding glass doors to a small patio overlooking the side yard firepit and peekaboo lake views. The front porch with 12 windows and front door separate entrance can be used as the 3rd bedroom. Relax on the down filled sofa and pull out memory foam queen mattress and have breakfast on the 4 top table with the morning sun. Everyone's favorite room in the house. Dining room table comfortably seats 8 and plenty of dishware in china cabinets. Enjoy the large new rear deck and step down and build a fire in the side yard firepit while you barbeque or make a fire on the beach while watching the sunset. Stay up late and you may see the Northern Lights. 125 foot driveway that ends at alley for alternate exit, plenty of room to park cars, trucks, ATVs and snowmobiles, direct access to trails from the house. Walk on the beach or drive to Township Park one mile away. Take a 5 minute stroll to Main Street (River Street) and stop at famous Syl's cafe, Krist gas station/minimart, shops, Stubbs Museum bar, etc. Ontonagon River is 4 blocks away where you can fish, kayak, rent a pontoon or boat. Waterfalls are nearby and the largest state park the Porcupine Mountains including the Lake of the Clouds where fall colors are spectacular is a 25 minute drive. Lake of the Clouds was featured on September 24, 2022 when USA Today announced the Upper Peninsula of Michigan as the 2022 1st Best Destination for Fall Foliage in the US. In the winter, take advantage of lake effect snowfall. Why trailer your snowmobile when you can sled to the trails from a 125' driveway. Location! Location!
