friendly check-in with a map provided of local tourist area showing us some good spots to visit and a city walk taking in the views from one river bank across the city and old bridge to bars and restaurants. A free welcome drink at the bar was provided and there are tea and coffee facilities in the room. Hanging space in our top floor room was a bit limited if staying more than one night. Room and bathroom were very clean and bed was comfortable. We did not eat in the hotel so cannot comment. Wi-Fi was good and easy to access. No on-site parking but a large car park is about 5-10 mins away at €13 overnight and easy to get to and return in the morning to reload luggage.

This hotel was a great place to stay in Heidelberg. It’s clean, quiet, and feels very safe. The location is perfect, just a short walk to the Old City and historical sites. The staff are genuinely friendly and helpful, and they speak English, which made things easier. I’d definitely stay here again.

My husband and I spent two nights (this week) at the lovely Rafaela Hotel Heidelberg. This is a true gem and we highly recommend. The staff are super friendly, the location is perfect (we walked to restaurants, markets, the Castle in Old Town), the rooms are clean, the breakfast is tremendous. Look no further!

Rafaela is a small, cosy hotel with very friendly employees. The rooms are nice and very clean. We also enjoyed the breakfast. It s only a 15 minutes walk to the old brigde to the ancient cetre of the city. We had a great time there and in Heidelberg

Centrally located great room , welcoming helpful staff 2nd stay , no hesitation in recommending. Opposite the central square which hosts a food market , parking was a little way away but very cheap and secure - Loading and unloading was no problem

My wife and I stayed at Rafaela Hotel in Heidelberg for two nights in June. It was perhaps the nicest hotel we stayed at in Germany. Our room was not large but was not cramped either and had plenty of storage space. The bathroom was spacious and well-equiped. The hotel is air conditioned and has an elevator. Noise was not a problem at all. The location was great. I have to admit that when booking a hotel in Heidelberg I wanted to stay at a hotel in the old town, but couldn't find anything. However, this neighborhood was great. Interesting shops nearby, the bus and streetcar stop only a couple of blocks away, and best of all, right outside is a plaza with a couple of great bars that serve breakfast, as well as food and drinks throughout the day. The hotel staff were terrific. After we left, my wife discovered that she had left some jewelry behind. I called the hotel who said that they had already found it and were extremely helpful in making arrangements for the jewelry to be sent back to us. I would definitely stay here again.

Great customer service even before our check in. Ben and Florian were really hospitable from the beginning till the end of our stay and all the staff did great work. The room was spacious and clean, we loved our window view! The breakfast had a good number of choices and nice tastes! Would love to come back again. Thank you everyone!

We spent as a family a weekend at this fantastic hotel and loved it absolutely. The hotel is new and the interior modern. All double rooms have a seat window, where you can watch the market happenings on Saturday. The hotel is very clean and you feel very comfortable. In addition, the hotel is located very good and is a great starting point for discovering Heidelberg. The owners are very hospitable and helpful in any matters. We felt very comfortable all around. We'll be back for sure!

We can claim no credit for finding this wonderful family-run hotel on the edge of a small Platz that hosts a bi-weekly food market (the square, that is, not the hotel). It was recommended (and booked) by our travel agent, Planet Rail, as part of a tailor-made package. Although the smallest of the rooms we slept in, it was ingeniously designed and quite charming. We loved it. Breakfast was good and, because the hotel has no restaurant, the owners were able to recommend a couple to us – one German cuisine, the other Italian – within a few minutes' walk. By the time we wakened on our first morning there, the market was in full swing outside our window – and we hadn't heard a thing. As well as being exquisitely comfortable, we found its location convenient for the city centre, the old town and the castle, reminding me to regret that I hadn't visited Heidelberg for 50 years.
