Our family of four needed a last minute overnight within the proximity of 40 and Route 68, on the airport side of Greensboro. We are well familiar with the area and the hotels along that stretch, and have stayed at a few of the others over the last ten years. SpringHill Suites was new to us, and this location’s previous reviews were pretty good on TA, so we gave it a go. We arrived around 10:00 PM, calling first to let the desk know we were still coming. The young woman I spoke with on the phone was very polite. When we arrived, our check in was smooth and quick, and we were given a room on the top (4th) floor, as requested. We were initially worried about the noise because we were only 4 doors down from 2 extremely loud and rude rooms across from the hall from each other, who were obviously talking with each other from within their rooms. But when we entered our own room, we couldn’t hear the volume from those 2 rooms at all. The room was clean, with a large walk in closet (good if someone needs to change clothes in privacy, and the bathroom is occupied.) Our tall teenager was able to comfortably sleep on the pull out trundle bed, giving our adult daughter the second bed to herself, which was a pleasant surprise. I prefer a firmer mattress, and these were soft with a topper. The bathroom was also clean, and the large shower didn’t have a tub, making getting in and out very easy for anyone with physical challenges. Breakfast consisted of hot oatmeal with a good amount of additional topping selections, such as coconut, dried berries, raisins, almonds, walnuts, granola, honey, chocolate chips, etc. They had hot bagels with eggs and ground meat, a pre-made Spanish style omelette, real hot pepper sauce on the side, cold bagels and breads, yogurt, cereal, bananas, oranges, and hot tea and coffee with a couple syrups, and real cream and milk. They were missing something with potatoes, in my opinion, but that’s not a big deal. My slight complaints had to do with the aesthetics of the bathroom. Our bathroom door didn’t have a lock that lined up with the latch in the doorframe, but more importantly, the bathroom door itself had a large panel of frosted glass. This meant that the door allowed the bright bathroom light into the rest of the room if someone had to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, or if someone had to get ready early in the morning while others were still sleeping. I think this is a serious design flaw on Marriott’s part. Lastly, there was no bathroom fan and only 1 towel hook. The latter seems to be an issue in most hotels, I’ve noticed. All told, we enjoyed our stay and would currently recommend this particular hotel to others.
