Pousada da Ria

Really clean and comfortable room. The food was amazing, and the staff was friendly and helpful at all times. Soft sofas to sit and gaze out at the sea. The views were lovely and watching the boats go by was lovely.

I love the stay at Pousada da Ria. One of the more incredible Pousadas of Portugal, it seems our room was just together with the Aveiro's Ria, with an amazing view. The Staff was even best that all the rest, very friendly and kind, it felt like home! The swimming pool just close by the Aveiro's Ria is the best place to relax. Please go yourself and check all of these amazing characteristics that make our stay there incredible.

The Pestana Group has normally a very high standard and excellent hotels. They have an historic background and are managed well. The RIA is not. It urgently needs better management and an investment in the hotel. The restaurant is bad and far below Pestana Group level in cooking and service. The team is friendly but on amateur level. They need training. The hotel has potential. The Team wants to deliver and achieve good results. Pestana Group should invest in upgrading it - if not it damages the brand level of the Group.

The view! The service! The restaurant! We loved staying at the Pousada Ria and wished we could have stayed longer. Our room looked over the water. The room was quiet, serene, elegant and well designed. We definitely will go back on our next visit to Portugal.

The personel was very kind, the food was excellent and the view from our room was amazing. We love our stay there because we took a chance of reminding 50 years ago.... From our room we could see a lot of birds and small fishing boats.

We had a wonderful stay. The views from the room and restaurant are beautiful. We saw flamingo’s fly by and colorful fishing boats go by. The room was clean and very comfortable. This is a historic building and the rooms are dated. All the team members from reception to restaurant were exceptional.

We intended to have a best friends trip in Amsterdam, and our flight was canceled 3 hours before take-off. Our disappointment was at a 10! We needed a new plan and fast...I live in Portugal, however my best friend was visiting from the US...she had not seen the Aveiro area and other parts of the North...hence our plan hatched. Our choice was between this hotel and one in downtown Aveiro, we are soooo grateful we chose Pousada Ria. It is in a quiet location that very much suited our style, upon arrival we were greeted by Claudia and she was amazing! She upgraded our room and offered us treats and got us reservations that night at the hotel restaurant and got our slot taken care of for the continental breakfast. She then helped us with our bags to our room. I know this is part of her job, however she did it with care and treated us very kindly. We found all of the hotel staff extremely accommodating. The room is not huge but definitely big enough for two friends to enjoy a wonderful nights rest and a stunning view of the sunrise. We had a room that had a complete view of the river along with an outdoor seating area right on the water. I do believe all rooms have at least a partial view of the river. Wake up early one day and enjoy the sunrise. The room was clean, had the necessary amenities with the exception of an iron which the front desk resolved for us. To note: this location is NOT in Aveiro, it is a 40 min drive or a 15 min ferry boat ride, something to keep in mind if traveling without a car. Location is easy to find and has more than ample parking. Has a lovely pool and bikes available to ride. We were more than pleased and found ourselves relaxed, thank you Pousada Ria.

A bit of a pain to get, but easy to find. worth the effort. The room was a little tired but a good size with a comfortable bed and small balcony overlooking the water. Good shower. Not very nice smell when the tide was out. Dinner - fish of course- was wonderful; breakfast was standard and Ok. Excellent free parking . Public areas very pleasant and staff had good english and very friendly and professional. Sao Jacinto beach is fabulous (blue) and not a hotel or apartment in sight.
