We stayed in the hotel for two nights and had already informed the receptionist when we checked in that two friends would come visit on the next day where they stayed in another hotel closer to FujiQ. When our friends came, one of their staff blocked our way and accusing us that we had more people staying than we booked in an unfriendly, rude and arrogant manner as if he was a cop and caught us did something bad. We explained to him in both English and Japanese translation that our friends were just here visiting. We showed him their other hotel booking confirmation but he said no guests were allowed to come visit in any hotel and this is their some Japan hotels authority’s rule! We asked him proof of such rules which of course there isn’t any. No proper apologies and poor attitude remains from that staff. Very bad experience with the staff here. Other than that, the hotel property and facilities were great.

This lovely hotel (its a bit dated, but everything is clean and very nice) is right on the lake, and very quiet. Its 10 minutes driving distance from the Kawaguchi-Ko bus stand/train station and there is a free hotel shuttle every hour. I would definitely go for rooms with a view - either of the lake, or of Fujisan. We went for rooms with lake view, and very much enjoyed it. The rooms are big and very comfortable, with a desk, an armchair and a sofa. There is also a small balcony, with amazing views of the lake. Its so peaceful, especially in the early morning or during sunset. The hotel is located in a large garden. There is an indoor and lovely outdoor onsen, where you can bath in the warm water whilst seeing bamboo and hearing birds. Breakfast is a good buffet. The restaurant for dinner is rather expensive, so i would recommend eating in one of the few restaurants in the small town.
If you need to use the pick-up service, please contact the hotel after you arrive at Kawaguchiko Station.
Located on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi, Shuhoukaku Kogetsu offers views of Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi from all rooms and open-air baths, and is blessed with the beauty of the four seasons, including fresh greenery, autumn leaves, and snow-capped Mt. Fuji. It is a unique accommodation that combines Japanese aesthetics with Western elements. It is a 10-minute drive to Kawaguchiko Station, a 15-minute drive to Highland Resort Hotel, and a 2-hour drive from the Tokyo metropolitan area.

I stayed at the Kogetsu for 2 nights in May and it was an unforgettable experience. Every detail was beautiful and thoughtful. I booked rather late and was not able to book the same room, so the first night I stayed in a Standard Western Style twin w open-air bath; and the second night in a Standard Japanese Modern w open-air bath (Triple). Both were on the 3rd (of 5) floors and both had stunning views of Mt Fuji. Both incorporated both Japanese and Western style. The first room had wood floors throughout and half-shoji screen doors so you could separate the bedroom and dining areas. It also had a small walk-in closet. The outdoor onsen was quite large (could easily fit 4 adults) and the patio was wider than in the Triple room. I posted pics of the Standard Western Style Twin and will post the pics of the Triple separately. In contrast the Triple room was larger and there was a gorgeous daybed (which becomes the 3rd bed) with windows on either side overlooking Mt Fuji. The onsen was a bit smaller (could easily fit 2 adults). The bedroom was carpeted, dining area had tatami-style mats, and hallway had wood floors. There was a wardrobe rather than walk-in closet in this room. Both rooms had a wet area for washing up before the onsen, a separate powder room, and separate toilet room. Honestly, you can’t go wrong - both rooms were gorgeous. I felt lucky to be here. One thing to note is that there is a boat launch beside the ryokan, so my open-air onsen on 3rd floor was not super private (there’s a screen to pull down if you want privacy, but it obscures the view). The 4th/5th floors would have more feeling of privacy. The kaiseki meals were beautifully displayed and delicious. The 2 nights’ menus were different but followed a similar (but not identical) format: 1) Aperitif, 2) Seasonal appetizers, 3) Soup, 4) Sashimi, 5) Main course (hot), 6) Steamed fish, 7) Grilled fish, 8) Palette cleanser, 9) simmered dish, 10) rice dish, and 11) dessert. My nakai, Fumiko-san, was lovely - friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Breakfast was also included - it was half- buffet, with an elegant bento box with appetizers and tamago. It also included delicious tempura, made to order and delivered to your table. The hotel has a happy hour from 2:30-6:30 where a limited selection of tea, coffee, nonalcoholic drinks, beer and wine are free. You can enjoy them on the gorgeous terrace overlooking Mt Fuji with your feet soaking in the footpath (just not in your room). Lastly there are shuttles every morning to Kawaguchiko Station or any of the tourist sights on the way, and the hotel will send a shuttle to pick you up when you are ready to come back. The location of this ryokan could not be better - close to some great museums and on the North shore of the lake, which has the best views (and away from the touristy South shore).

This is the second time staying in Fuji Ginkei, while the first time was in 2017. The reason I chose it when I went to Kawaguchiko the second time was the perfect location, service, and food when I stayed in 2017. First, I should thank the hotel staff. As you might know, it is tough for solo travelers to book a Ryokan room. As a search around the hotel list, which I think is perfect for the stay, Fuji Ginkei is one of a few hotels which said OK. I appreciate it. The location is perfect as you can see the lake and mountain simultaneously. For Kawaguchiko, only a few hotels have this kind of view. When you arrive at the Kawaguchiko station, don't forget to call them, and they will pick you up. However, when you live, if you want to take their shuttle bus, you need to check their shuttle bus schedule. I choose the Japanese-style room which a balcony since I want to take many photos from my room. It is worth it as the view from the room is perfect. I can stay in the room and watch Mount Fuji all afternoon. It even has an individual bathroom in the room, which is kind of rare. If you stay in the hotel in Winter, don't forget to use the outdoor onsen. It will be freezing to get in and out, but it is worth it as you will see a very clear sky and many stars when using the outdoor onsen. You will never forget it. Moreover, don't forget to go lakeside, which is only a few meters away. You can take perfect photos of the lake, Mount Fuji and the stars. It is impressive. Service is as good as before, which you can imagine. When you are having breakfast and dinner, the staff will talk with you, introducing the dish and telling you much exciting and helpful information. For once, I was discussing さかさふじ with them and really learned a lot. The dish is good. As I stayed for two nights, I think the first night's dinner was better than the second. For breakfast, I don't have too many things to say. Overall, the dish tasted good but not as impressive as in 2017, maybe because I tried some Michelin during these years, which increased my standard. Overall, it is an excellent hotel, and the price is not that high compared to other hotels around Kawaguchiko. Once again, is it worthy.

We enjoyed the gorgeous fuji view from the room which was exactly the same as the photo we saw online. The hotel provided free warm packs and snacks in the lobby which was caring. There were also welcoming snacks in the room. However, as far as we know, the hotel provides free shuttle service to/from Kawaguchiko station but it was disappointing that there were no way to book online. I tried to contact the hotel directly via email but received no response from them. Eventually, we took a bus from Kawaguchiko station and walked up the hill with our luggages, which was very inconvenient. Besides, the dinner style/menu was only available at dinner time so we couldn’t take it into consideration when we decided the date of our stay. Other than the above, the overall experience was nice with high CP value.

Siamo in viaggio guidato e siamo stati fortunati a rimanere a Regina. Era buono in ogni modo - grandi camere, eccellente check-in, doccia calda e comoda letto.

UUtente ospiteThe location of the hotel is fantastic for sunset viewing. There is plenty of parking across the road, with a surfeit of basically unnecessary staff. We had a reasonable-sized room with large windows and a wonderful panorama of the lake and Mount Fuji. That's all that's positive. The hotel is in two parts: the original building and an annexe. It is NOT suitable for wheelchair users trying to get to a restaurant. There are too many steps, twists and turns. There are lifts to find rooms in part A or part B, and the locations of the onsens (which switch between male and female every day - nice views, though). The signage is rare and confusing. As a stocky European (100Kg), I had immense difficulty sleeping on a very thin futon. The electric heater in the room blasts an unhealthy stream of hot air. Switch off this health risk and you FREEZE (we were there in late October). The hotel is relatively expensive, so you'd expect quality rooms. What you get is the uniform Japanese army-style sp****, goose**** green-walled room that you'd find in business hotels at half the room rate of this laughingly named 'NEW CENTURY' place. Minimalist, to say the least (in reality, pinched, lacking in generosity and well-being). At least there was a fridge (with a freezer icebox!!) In a series of measures as a response to the risks of COVID, there were no real glasses - just paper cups, and a message asking you to close the toilet lid before flushing. Disappointingly, the toilet was untypically low quality - no little hand-washing basin and fountain on the top of the toilet, and thus no towel in the toilet itself. (So, mucky hands grasping two sets of door handles to wash your hands. How's that for customary Japanese hygiene?) We (a group of 13 people - I was the only gaijin...) had booked an evening meal, room and breakfast the next morning. Dinner? Again, for the price, you'd expect a nice piece of fish (probably from the lake) right? NO way. We got a few bits of sukiyaki, and mean little dishes with bits and pieces of this and that... I've eaten MUCH better food in izakayas and bars throughout Japan. My opinion was echoed by most of our party. Breakfast was below ordinary. Simple, plain, dull. Something to dispense with quickly. Taking fuel on board, that's all. The service in the restaurant was desultory (= awful, ungracious). During dinner, a stocky old lady granted me the opportunity to be bumped TWICE by her capacious bottom as she served the person next to me. I complained and pushed back, to the accompaniment of giggles from her lithe, unobtrusive colleagues. Mercifully I was spared any further encounter with this voluminous rear end at breakfast. The staff at breakfast time were a) limited in number b) slow and c) VERY detached. One had the feeling they were cleaning staff put into waiting uniforms. Per person, we paid over 13,000 yen. Frankly, an outrageous price. The ONLY benefit was the view. For that, you don't need a hotel room. A bus tour will
Booked this ryokan purely based on pictures online. The entire experience definitely did not disappoint. Managed to try two different rooms, 1 with private onsen and another lead in room. The upgrade for the rooms with private onsen are definitely worth it as they are newer and much larger rooms. There is free coffee and tea in the lobby. Breakfast changes daily and is of high quality. Dinner was also amazing and a wonderful experience. Location wise, it is up a very steep hill and not suitable to walk up with luggages. The hotel does provide pick up service from the train station at certain timings.
LLiechienMy recent stay at Villa Yumefuji Kawaguchiko was nothing short of magical. Nestled in the stunning surroundings of Kawaguchiko with breathtaking views.
The villa itself is a perfect blend of traditional Japanese architecture and modern amenities. The rooms are spacious, elegantly designed, and offer panoramic views..
The staff at Villa Yumefuji Kawaguchiko were incredibly hospitable and went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comfortable and memorable. Their attention to detail and personalized service truly set this villa apart.
One of the highlights of my stay was the private onsen (hot spring) available at the villa. Soaking in the warm waters was a truly rejuvenating experience.
Overall, Villa Yumefuji Kawaguchiko exceeded all my expectations and provided me with a truly unforgettable stay. I highly recommend this villa to anyone looking for a luxurious and authentic Japanese experience in Kawaguchiko.”
JJaniceIf you are looking for a zen accommodation that is far and away from the hustle and bustle, one that exudes tranquility, has the perfect Mt Fuji view with no photobomb (no one to vie with you for the best view / photo spot) and is new, modern and basically impeccable a room, this is the right hotel for you.
I have almost nothing but praises for this accommodation except perhaps its location. As it is allll the way up the hilly area and right on the opposite side of Lake Kawaguchiko’s main bustling area, you can really only rely on 1) their shuttle service which has pretty limited timings (last shuttle at 4.30pm) cos after all it’s mostly meant for shuttling guests on arrival only 2) taxi which is expensive ~ 10mins ride up for 3,000 yen 3) driving your own vehicle.
Apart from its distant proximity to the station and all, it really is the best kind of accommodation where it’s almost like an attraction itself, the kind where you intentionally spend a night at the hotel just to get the full experience. Have a look at the photos and let the photos do the talking (sorry they are kinda blurry as I took screenshots off the room video instead).
Service is excellent, and staff is really nice and helpful too albeit limited English-speaking staff. They have a Mandarin-speaking staff onsite which is really helpful.
My friend and I opted for breakfast as well which is pretty good, but note that you will have to inform the receptionist on your preferred time slot (nothing like the buffet style / seating) at the end of the day (they would likely approach you to ask abt it though so no worries even if you had forgotten abt it).
Note that the private hot spring bath in the room is simply natural hot spring water and not onsen; silly me thought it was onsen 🥲 anyhow, the bathtub was really clean too so plus points to the housekeeping.
All in all, a really lovely, enjoyable and most definitely unforgettable stay at Kumonoue Fuji! Would I choose to stay here again on my next trip to Mt Fuji? Absolutely, in a heartbeat!
Benvenuto Bar è un must!
UUtente ospiteStayed for two nights and finally I got a much better sleep for the first time on my 2 week trip! Breakfast was ok, not fantastic-the place seems very deserted with many shops shuttered quite early on and streets dark. The bath was decent but nothing to shout about. Overall a value for money place just don’t expect too much

LLawrenceWe need to take Red (R) line bus from fujikawaguichiko station and stop in front of the hotel, but the catch is if you have luggages on tow, expect to drag the uphill short road to the hotel since it's situated just beside the Ropeway station. Although the front desk (non local) seems rather nice, but not not warmth either. I think there's many restrictions (No's), and he is trying to explained diligently.. well I guess the hotel rules and policy is the strange compared to many hotels I stayed in within Asia/world. although it gets compensated with some good view of lake kawaguichiko. The breakfast selection is not many, but it's get stranger to wear gloves to take foods each time, although some tends to forget while getting his/her second's take.. it isn't covid era, and certainly many ways to cope cleanliness handling SOP..
