River Splendour Home Stay

Champi and Shan were great hosts. We learned so much about Sri Lankan life and customs in the few days we were there. We had a cooking class with Champi which was lovely. Shan brought us on a trip to the Dambatenne tea plantation, and also drive us to our next stop on the coast.

What a beautiful little haven !! Champi and family have created something beautiful - located just outside of the hustle of Ella but only a short tuk tuk away. He will help with anything you ask (including the parking of our Jeep while we stayed). The rooms are spotless, the waterfall is so beautiful! Highly recommend !!

Our family spent 3 nights at River Splender. Champi (and her family) are warm and friendly hosts. Ella has had a lot of rain so the waterfall was swollen and loud. Not safe to swim but wonderful to watch. My kids and I did a cooking class which was lots of fun and very delicious. I’m familiar with the spices but have never cooked with jackfruit or banana flower.I particularly loved hearing about the spices and fruits Champi grows in her garden. I picked a fresh cardamom seed which smells incredible! She even grows and grinds her own coffee! The rooms are basic but what may be lacking in mod cons is made up by jungle experience, a private waterfall and warm family hospitality. I can’t wait to try Champas family recipes at home.

I wish I could put six stars, Champi, the lady owner, is the nicest and helpful person you could find. She’s an English teacher, and a cook teacher as well . About the place …. This is PARADISE !!! This homestay has it s proper waterfalls, Eadies fantastic to chill out on a rock in the middle of the river. The rooms are extra clean and the beds are just king size … Top top top !!!!!! Thanks again for everything to Champi and her family !!!!

Great location and very accessible in everything. Moreover, there’s a hidden gem (falls) exclusive only for their guests. Superb breakfast as well with really homemade local delicacies. Thanks to Champi, she’s so kind and accommodating to us, showing the river (falls) in details. She’s always willing to help with open arms. Balcony was having an amazing views of nature. Really commendable people and place.

Our family had a great time here. The food is very good and we followed also a cooking class. See pictures. The hosting family is very friendly Breakfast and dinner were top. Kids played also at the waterfalls. The sleeping places are clean and comfortable.

From the moment we walked in the entrance to the river splendor we were throughly impressed.Need to say wow for the guidance. unique place is the amazing waterfall n the private track ti the fall…The room was comfortable and wow..pleasant view from our balcony can see little Adam’s peak.. Best place to stay☺️

Easy access rawana elle.Nice food and natural breeze. And also friendly Manager who guides nicely. Better to visit and feel the natural waterfall runs through the location. He can arrange local trips to yala and udawalawa . Most amazing is fair charges
