Hotel con piscina a Douala

Got to stay here for 10days. My experience has been a very pleasant one. Food selection in the buffet is well diverse. Its more of the ex-pat flavor...meaning its very good and less on spices. The pool is very inviting. The gym is basic but its there and clean. They have bar and chill out area which is nice. The room is spacious. Dark themed hotel made bright and lively with the catering staff, room attendants, security personnel, and attentive front desk personnel. Had a slight difficulty changing currencies. This observation might be the most important one for me, maybe trivial for others, but they impressed me with this item: I never saw a mosquito or any insect in my room. A first for me in an African hotel. Great housekeepers. Enjoyed my 10days stay.

I'm not aware of any other hotel chains with a presence in Douala besides Ibis where I stayed 2 nights. It was a bad experience before I even arrived. I e-mailed them to arrange the complimentary airport transfer and was met with radio silence. It was only after I reached out to Accor Customer Service and much follow-up that Ibis Douala finally responded to me. (Kudos to Accor Customer Service!) After I got to my room, I noticed a pesticide smell but I put it off as something that would go away but it didn't and was affecting my sleep so I went to reception to enquire about the odour at which point the attendant referred me to a piece of paper on the bench which mentioned that the hotel was undergoing hygiene treatment on the 2 days I was there - this was the first time I was shown this notice! They changed my room to another one - on the same floor - because the air con in my initial room couldn't be turned off, but the smell of pesticide remained but they said it was the same throughout the hotel. Luckily, the odour was less pungent on my second night - which makes me wonder why they couldn't have either 1. scheduled the treatment outside of the Christmas busy period or 2. timed the treatment so that certain floors were treated on the first day and the remaining floors the next day so that guests can stay on floors less affected by the odour - which may be harmful to one's health! The hotel room was tired and dated with dull green coloured tiles on the bathroom floor. Also, the hot water tap needs to be turned on for at least 10 minutes before there is any hot water. There was no variety to the buffet breakfast - it was the same everyday. On the plus side, the hotel is within 20 minutes walk of 2 supermarkets.

Durante il viaggio di ritorno familiare, abbiamo utilizzato questa struttura in attesa di ripartire. Abbiamo trovato una fantastica location, pulizia e cortesia del personale esemplari. Wi-fi perfetto in camera confortevole, piscina esterna nonchè un'ottima qualità della prima colazione, con tutte le varianti possibili di scelta. In virtù di molteplici esperienze, possiamo affermare di aver avuto la massima soddisfazione dal soggiorno in questa struttura, da consigliare: un'oasi di riposo e qualità da non perdere.

Ho avuto una grande esperienza all'hotel AKWA Palace. Il personale della reception è sorprendente soprattutto per la signorina Kadija e la signorina Sylie, consiglio questo posto a chiunque voglia un ambiente piacevole e senza stress. Personalmente penso che sia un hotel 5 stelle piuttosto che un hotel 4 stelle.

We were impressed with this hotel. The rooms were comfortable with nice bedding and linens. The breakfast is very good (except the coffee) and the restaurant is a fine choice for dinner, although there are other options nearby. But the real STARS of this hotel are the staff. They were lovely. Jude at reception was professional and friendly and went out of his way to help us. Emmanuelle gave us good tips for our one day off work. The nice trainer in the gym -- I forgot his name -- gave us good advice for using weights. We will be back!
