We went on a trip to Cuba, Cayo Coco (Hotel Mojito) a few weeks ago to celebrate our anniversary. BEST EXPERIENCE EVER! Here is our detailed objective review that we hope will help make your decision to go to Cuba easier. Just before we left for our trip, the weather forecast was showing non-stop rain for our whole travel week and thankfully that did not turn true. We had sunny days all week so don’t always trust the weather app. Upon arrival, there was a minor mistake in the front desk’s computer regarding our room booking. Our travel agent sent an email with the correct information regarding our booking and one of the kind employees at Hotel Mojito resolved this misunderstanding and got us a great room (honeymoon suite). That being said, if you have any issue, the guest services will do everything to make you happier - they are the best. Regarding food: we saw some previous reviews giving negative feedback but, from our experience, they were incorrect. Every single day we had a lot of food and even menu changes. The bar was open 24hours and it had food all the time. These negative reviews may have been some people showing up at closing time (where this could be the case of not seeing enough food) but you have to understand the employees need to clean the Buffet and get ready for the next lunch or dinner menu so it’s ultimately up to you if you decide to show up early, in the middle or at end of the time frame dedicated for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Bottom line is there is a lot of food - you can't even imagine - for every guest there. Besides the Buffet, there is a restaurant A la carte that guest services can book for you for dinnertime. Every night they have different menus and outstanding food and drinks you can enjoy. The employees of the Hotel Mojito are awesome. But keep in mind they are working extremely long hours, don’t give them a hard time. Regarding tips: the best is to give them paper currency, but they will accept coins as well. If you have large bills you can ask anyone at bar or buffet or reception to exchange for smaller bills that you have for tips. You don’t have to convert money in pesos because all the prices are in dollars in the shops and you will get back change in dollars. All major credit cards are accepted too. Regarding mosquitos and flies: YES they are there and I was unfortunately a huge target for the mosquitoes. But hey, it’s a Laguna resort and they live there, it’s just part of the experience. However, every monday morning, there is some type of aircraft that actually sprays the resort from above to decrease population of mosquitos. Any Caribbean island has mosquitos and files so it is up to you how you decide to protect yourselves from bites. Even when you go to the lake or a camping site in Canada you see more mosquitos and they could be far more dangerous than these in Cuba. Anyway, my wife and I got some bites but nobody got sick. Even Some more good things about the resort: there are

We had the most wonderful week at Soy Cayo Coco! The staff were absolutely amazing. They are all so friendly, and helpful. Every interaction left me smiling. The facility was big and clean, however repairs are needed and some refreshing could be done. Outside the grounds were beautiful and gardens were well kept, however the outskirts were less tidy and there was some garbage. It’d be nice if more garbage cans were accessible. Our room had the most comfy bed and pillows. We were lucky to have a king sized bed and the most amazing view over the gardens and ocean. Our toilet was weak to flush and we had no hot water, ever lol. But that’s been every resort we’ve been to in Cuba to be honest, so we expected that. We had full bellies all week! The snack bar would be hit or miss with what it had available depending on the day. The buffet was a lot of the same foods each day, with a few changes here and there, but everything was great and loved having the skillet bars for eggs, bacon, meats, and pasta. The a la cart was delicious! This hotel is lucky enough to have two beaches and both were amazing and unique in their own ways. We swam every day and snorkelled when the tides allowed. We didn’t go in the pools, but they looked beautiful. The bars served delicious drinks! Highly recommend their strawberry daiquiri, Spanish coffee, rum and punch and tequila sunrises yummy. We did run out of rum one day, as well as coffee. We mentioned this to our AirTransat rep and she seemed to contact the manager and had each soon after. We weren’t wowed with the entertainment, but they did good!! It just wasn’t our interests. There was lots to do and we didn’t get to do it all in our one week! Wish we could of stayed longer, Thank you again for the memories <3

Iberostar Mojito

Cayo Coco|0.67km dal Rocarena Climbing Center

We stayed at Tryp from March 22 to April 5. Our stay was great. We stayed in building 8 which is on the beach. It’s a short walk to the cabanas. The beach is the best beach we have been too in all the resorts we have stayed. The workers are the greatest. To mention a few Osmany, Geraldo, Maylan, Edouardo, William, Alex and many others. We were treated like royalty. Arelys and Gelly in guest service are the best customer service personnel we have dealt with. They are prompt in having things looked after within minutes. All à la carte had wonderful menus with a variety of choices. We can’t thank you enough Tryp and the staff for making our vacation a memorable one. See you next year.
