We have been going in and out of Tagaytay a few times a year and have stayed in hotels and Airbnbs in the area. This is the first we've booked a room in this hotel.
1. We arrived at the hotel and checked in around 2 PM. We didn't have to wait long to get the keycards to our room so I thought, this was a good start.
2. We went up to our room to drop off our things and to rest for a bit before heading out. I sat on the chair right by the bedside and this is where I noticed some crumbs on the floor near our bed. I didn't think much of it so I explored the room and headed to the balcony.
3. I pushed the drapes open so that I could have a good look of the view from the balcony, and then I saw that there were more crumbs and clusters of what seemed to be nuts or pretzels on the floor behind the drapes. This is where I asked my husband to check on the entire room for crumbs so that we could call housekeeping.
4. We checked the other areas and found out more crumbs so we decided to make the call right away. We waited for housekeeping to get to our room for around 20-30 minutes but no one knocked. We needed to leave due to an appointment, so I just went to the front desk and asked again to have someone sweep and mop the floor while we were out.
5. We got back to the hotel before dusk. One good thing about this hotel is that their pool is heated. After swimming, we called the front desk to order bottled water but had to wait AGAIN for around 20-30 minutes. It was not a busy Sunday night.
6. I woke up at around 3:00 AM because I felt like something was crawling on my right arm. It was dark but we had the balcony light turned on so when I woke up, I was surprised by the sight of a huge bug (didn't know what it was at first since it was dark) and panicked. It was on my pillow now and I swung it so that it flew on the floor. My husband was awoken by my low shrieking and tried to find what crawled on our bed. He went to the bathroom and while he was there, I saw that something was crawling behind the chair and the air purifier and found out that it was a COCKROACH! My husband killed the cockroach with the hotel slippers and left it on the floor for the housekeepers to see.
This is the first time we've ever encountered a cockroach in a hotel. Aside from the crumbs on the floor, there were dirt marks on the walls and ceiling and some molds in the bathroom; but seeing a cockroach in the room only means one thing -- housekeeping is not doing their job properly. We didn't bother taking photos of the molds and the marks on the walls because we honestly thought this would be rectified or they'd apologize. We paid for a clean room which we didn't get. No apologies were made from the email that I sent nor from their front desk when we asked to send housekeeping on the day we checked in.
Breakfast was okay but nothing special.
