This historic stone building was the Salvation Army building that was built in 1911. It is above my law office and was our New York style penthouse living quarters when a complete rebuild was done in 2009. It overlooks Main Avenue right next to Olde Tymers Cafe, and is two doors south from Carvers in Downtown Durango. It is a five star accommodation with an enclosed and heated garage for parking. In my opinion it is the most beautiful penthouse apartment in downtown Durango. The VRBO tenants confirm this description. It has first class amenities including high-end kitchen appliances, beautiful furnishings, Master bath with free standing soaker tub, steam shower, courtyard, and a balcony. It has double paned windows which allows for great insulation and low noise. My wife and I only want to rent to 2 adults, We want to keep the unit in beautiful condition, we only allow 2 persons to sleep in the unit. No large or loud parties. Although there is a small second bedroom, it is not okay for others to sleep there. If not approved by owners, a penalty fee will be added to your stay. The location is amazing, walk out your front door to great restaurants, bars and other amenities. It will not disappoint you. We rarely allow adult children to stay, and have recently made the decision to not allow young children. The place is perfect for two adults,,,,and the cleaning is so much more difficult when kids stay, as well as their impact on the space. This penthouse and its garage has another VRBO (212471) for additional accommodations for your additional guests (1BR luxury apartment above the garage) which can also be rented along with this unit. This one-bedroom luxury apartment was built in 2004 and is above a garage which is adjacent to a 1911 historic building on Main Street in the central downtown of Durango, Colorado. The apartment was completely remodeled in the Summer of 2017. The apartment is beautifully furnished and has a 32 inch Sony flat screen with all channels of satellite on DirecTV streaming with apple tv. The linens are exquisite, as are all the other amenities. Although, there are stairs up to the apartment, it is a romantic and secluded space which travelers will return to year after year. I am sorry but we don't rent with small children, and rarely (if approved first) to adult children, because of their impact on the space and the significant deep cleaning which results from their impact. Durango is one of the greatest towns in America, and it has numerous recreational activity and wonderful people. The restaurants and downtown activity are just outside your door. The apartment is located in the downtown district. There is a parking space off of Main Street for your exclusive use only one-half block from your VRBO and directly across from Carvers Brewing and restaurant in a well lit parking lot. Everyone that has stayed here, has stated they would return. City of Durango Permit #11-183Just a note on the current Covid 19 situation; We *Sanitize* our vacation rentals according to the CDC guidelines with safe practices like: Masks, Gloves, Bleach, washing on Hot, and a whole lot of obsessive cleaning! Our places are very safe to stay and enjoy without worry. Durango is currently partially open with masks required in all public spaces. Restaurants are open with social distancing in place.Situated on a huge lot, in the heart of Downtown Durango, the Wild Horse Guesthouse is only five blocks from the Durango & Silverton Train Station. This two bedroom one bath house is uber comfy. Full of light, and decorated in what we call Modern Cowboy style. All the luxuries of a boutique hotel await: claw foot tub, tile shower, new memory foam beds, fine linens, and an American Leather Comfort Sleeper couch in the living room. There is a king sized bed in the master bedroom, and a queen in the second bedroom. Then the Queen Sleeper couch and a nice full sized futon in the living room. Four beds total. The kitchen is complete with real knives, gas range, full sized refrigerator, island, and all the dishes and pans you could want. Open floor plan lends itself to family gatherings. There is A/C in the summer and a beautiful gas fire place in the winter. The front yard is fully landscaped with a nice cool lawn to play on and a covered porch with furnishings. The porch is new and with post and beam construction under a rusty metal roof is is super stylish. Being on the north side of the house in the summer it is a great place to eat al fresco. The back yard is huge and surrounded by a privacy fence. There is even a doggy door to the side yard that leads to the back yard. Woof.Location is where it is at: half a block from the River Walk trail to Santa Rita Park, a short walk to Durango Natural Foods Co-Op our great local grocery, Horse Gulch Trail System, the Train Station, coffee and breakfast places, and of corse all the downtown restaurants and shops just a short walk away.
