Hotel in zona Royal Reserve, Auckland

On the website one can already see this property is in need of a far overdue renovation. Rooms I mn the original building are not soundproof, have stuff which was common in the eighties and will never return and somehow cannot make up its mind whither target market is. It seems they cater to the elderly, while their guests are younger. Therefor a mismatch. The spa is excellent and so is the food in the menu. However be prepared to eat this wonderful food in an outdated restaurant setting. With a marvellous view of Auckland though. The staff all seem happy to be here, but lack attention to detail. An email sent to me prior to my stay spoke of a road that would be closed on may something, while the booking was made in July for august… furthermore, make sure to clean in top of cupboards in guest rooms too (spiderwebs dust, dead insects where abundantly present). Why is the bar in the cosy fireplace lounge lit up like a cristmas tree which takes away all atmosphere again? And why is the music soo off compared to the atmosphere you would want to create here (and only audible in the reception area by yet again… speakers that date back from the eighties and create a creepy twin peaks like feeling? Just a couple of examples of the many things we saw.. With so much potential it seems only logical that an investor will buy it at make the needed changes in all perspective.

Sofitel Auckland We arrived at Sofitel Auckland 2 days after the drive staying Auckland floods of 28 January 2023. The hotel had been heavily damaged and affected and was not operational. In spite of this we were received and offered sanctuary and shelter while the hotel staff followed some very well executed businesses continuity processes. We were met by Karim the concierge who invited us in sat us comfortably in the lounge and provided drinks while the assistant manage Lucy’s went about sorting out our repatriation to the JW Marriott. Stephen Gould the GM introduced himself to us and advised he had arranged a car to take us the the JW Marriott as the Sofitel was unserviceable. The staff were professional apologetic and polite. We had every confidence they had the situation under control. We felt very safe and comfortable. We finished our drinks and hopped in the car to leave. We felt very grateful for their professionalism and sorry for their suffering. We hope they get back online very soon. We will be back. Thank-you Stephen and Sofitel Auckland you made a stressful situation so much better while you were yourselves enduring a stressful situation.

Non c'era nessuna istruzione per parcheggiare all'arrivo e i due locali davanti all'hotel avevano dei taxi. Dovevamo parcheggiare due volte mentre io corri per chiedere. Ci hanno detto di andare solo in un parcheggio sotterraneo. Non c'era servizio valet. Quando siamo tornati alla ricezione con i bagagli dal parco automobilistico, il cameriere del desk front sembrava molto poco interessato e quasi brutto. Non c'era conversazione o sorriso. Avevamo prenotato un pacchetto di amanti e questo non era menzionato. Siamo arrivati in camera nostra e volevamo avere champagne all'arrivo. Ho fatto una domanda e era un altro, più bello, più carino.Ha detto: ”Sì, sembra che tu abbia una bottiglia e abbia detto che qualcuno l'avrebbe portata via. Era quasi mezz’ora dopo, e ho dovuto chiedere il colazione la mattina dopo, come lei ha spiegato. Abbiamo ordinato colazione nelle nostre camere, che era parte del pacchetto, e quando siamo venuti a controllare il ragazzo del desk, abbiamo detto che avevamo più da pagare e non avevamo incluso il colazione. Senza dire molto a noi quando gli ho spiegato che avevamo un pacchetto che includeva questo, egli guardava e poi andò a prendere la nostra macchina senza dirci questo è quello che faceva. Il tuo hotel è carino e qvale, ma il tuo staff ti lascia davvero andare e non mi piacerebbe stare di nuovo, né consigliare agli amici. Solo una parte piacevole è stato il bar al tetto dove il personale era molto più amichevole. Altrimenti nessuno sapeva cosa facevano. Questo tipo di esperienza ci ha rovinato per avere una notte in città per riunire i bambini.

Rimasi per una settimana per un viaggio di lavoro intenso e è stato molto bello tornare a questo hotel molto pulito e confortevole ogni notte. Il personale di ricezione era grande, soprattutto Shane, che era incredibilmente personale e utile, e si è spinto sopra e oltre per assicurarsi che avessi tutto quello che avevo bisogno.

The hotel is in a very good location, which is near the sky tower where you can take the air bus to or from Auckland airport. There are a lot of shops and restaurants near by. The room is clean and with all that we need. The breakfast is very good, especially the croissant😋

Great location and service. Stayed in the M Suite which was incredibly spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was great. Would definitely stay here again soon.

Tutto il personale era fantastico. Sono stati gentili, disponibili e hanno sempre risposto alle domande in modo conciso. L'hotel in sé è molto datato. La porta principale della nostra stanza aveva un ampio spazio sotto di essa, il che significa che i rumori dal corridoio erano più forti del previsto. Anche il lavandino del bagno era molto piccolo, cosa che personalmente non mi piaceva. Ma tutto ha funzionato. Sono stato grato che ci sia una lavanderia con lavatrici e asciugatrici ad uso degli ospiti.

TLDR: no aircon, constant power cuts, paper thin walls.. Where do I start. First off there’s no aircon so the rooms are hot and uncomfortable. There are ducted low speed fans which don’t do much. But the biggest problem is the fact the rooms are on what I believe to be motion sensors or some kind of timers so ALL power turns off every 25 seconds, this is not an exaggeration. This includes the lights, jug, the fan - everything. I stubbed my toes in the dark because the lights turned off while I was walking around, and they wouldn’t turn back on. Showering in the dark due the lights constantly on and off. Good luck making a coffee, showering, watching TV or anything without that being interrupted by constant power cuts which drive you mad. I booked the small room. They look small in the photos but even smaller in person and I felt like I was suffocating, the rooms are tiny so heat up like crazy. The smallest hotel room I’ve ever seen. Also the walls are paper thin so I could hear my neighbours conversations word for word.. even with ear plugs. If there was air con and sound proof walls, I could have put up with the extremely small space. Terrible experience. Don’t even bother with this place. The Abstract had a lot of potential as they have decorated it very nicely but they have let themselves down. It is also in a dangerous area of Auckland central so you will want to make sure you are back in your room by dark, lots of drunk homeless people around. After my first night of zero sleep due to the heat, stuffiness and neighbours chatting, I complained and had my room kindly upgraded to a larger one, but the same issues remained of constant power cuts and no air con in that room too. At least it was a bit cooler due to being larger and an extra window, also had no neighbours.. The customer service was pretty good. There is no parking on site so you have to park in a carpark building across the road. The food in the restaurant was average but has a beautiful outdoor dining area which was the highlight.

Ci piaceva il nostro tempo in questo hotel. Le camere erano pulite, moderne e tranquille. Il letto e le mutandine erano molto confortevoli e ci sentiamo ben riposati la mattina. Apprezziamo che la stanza che abbiamo prenotato abbia una TV intelligente che possiamo collegare facilmente e guardare il Signore degli anelli, e apprezziamo anche che ci fosse una microonde, un piccolo frigo e alcuni oggetti di cucina, tra cui un tavolo da taglio. La doccia era enorme con grande pressione e i prodotti da bagno contenevano olio di cacao e profumavano molto. Solo la denuncia che abbiamo per la stanza è che le tubazioni erano rumorose quando la valvola di vetro era un po' aperta e la porta di doccia di vetro era spazzata contro il vetro di chiusura della doccia. Non c'è molto vicino all'hotel, ma a piedi 10 minuti in qualsiasi direzione potremmo trovare qualcosa da fare o mangiare. Abbiamo fatto un bel po' di biglietti per la Coppa del Mondo l'ultimo giorno a Auckland e siamo stati piacevolmente sorpresi che la stazione Britomart vicina abbia offerto un trasporto gratuito a Eden Park per i titolari di biglietti, e questo è normale per grandi eventi a Auckland. Siamo stati a circa cinque minuti a piedi dalla stazione e questo è stato davvero grande. Arrivare all'aeroporto/a questo hotel dall'aeroporto è un po' di tempo per cui abbiamo scelto di usare Uber.
