[Fufu Hakone: A Luxurious Mountain Escape] Fufu Hakone is located in the quiet Gora region and seamlessly blends modern comforts with traditional Japanese ryokan hospitality. The property stands out for its unique dual hot spring experiences, providing private balcony baths with clear mineral water in every suite alongside communal pools filled with therapeutic, milky-white sulfur volcanic water. We had a wonderful one-night stay at Fufu Hakone on 28 May 2026, which included a Kaiseki dinner and breakfast. [Getting There] Our journey began with a midnight flight from Singapore, reaching Tokyo at 9:00 AM. From there, we caught the Narita Express and changed to the Tokaido Shinkansen to travel to Odawara, before making our way up to Gora. We arrived at Gora Station close to 3:00 PM to find it drizzling. Unfortunately, local taxis were completely unavailable and we could not find any vehicles on the GO app. Fortunately, we managed to get into the shelter of the tourist information centre. The lady on duty was incredibly helpful, assisting us to call Fufu Hakone for a pickup and directing us to the exact area where hotel shuttle services operate. We highly recommend that you do not attempt to walk to the resort from the station, especially in poor weather. [Arrival Experience] The moment we arrived at the resort, we were met with warm smiles and greetings. We were guided to the reception area located on the second level of the front building and seated comfortably in the lounge, where we were served hot tea. A designated staff member came over to complete our check-in process and then escorted us to our room in the guest building. The level of attentiveness was outstanding. The staff member explained every single detail in the room, including the layout of the suite, the private balcony onsen, the water temperature controls, the television, and the mini-bar, which is entirely complimentary. They also carefully went through our dinner order, taking down all of our personal preferences, likes, and dislikes. [The Suite] Our suite, named 楢の芽 (Naranome), was located on the third level. Rather than trying to describe the beautiful layout in words, I will let the accompanying photos speak for themselves. The room features two super-single beds that are incredibly fluffy and soft, with each bed featuring two plush pillows to guarantee a perfect night of sleep. The resort provided both pyjamas and a two-piece samue yukata for our stay. The pyjamas are strictly for use inside the room, while the samue yukata is intended to be worn when exploring the public areas of the property. [Dinner and Breakfast] Both the Kaiseki dinner and the breakfast were exceptional. Because many of the exquisite dishes feature seasonal ingredients that change throughout the year, please refer to my photos for a visual look at what was served during our stay. [The Ultimate Onsen Routine] To make the most of the dual hot springs, I highly recommend this routine: - Welcome Soak: Start with the light and refreshing clear mineral water on your private balcony to gently wash away travel fatigue before dinner. - Dinner and Rest: Enjoy your Kaiseki meal, then return to your suite to digest comfortably for a few hours. - Nightcap Soak: End the evening in the communal baths. The thick, milky-white sulphur volcanic water melts away muscle tension and deeply relaxes the body before sleep. [Areas for Improvement] While the stay was mostly flawless, there are two minor points to note: - Toothbrush Set: The provided toothbrush set was rather small for my liking. It felt like it took ages to finish brushing my teeth. You should definitely bring your own if this is a concern for you. - Room Attire: The two-piece samue yukata was not comfortable at all. It is not mandatory to wear it around the property, but we chose to do so anyway to fully immerse ourselves in the traditional ryokan culture.

We were looking for onsen with private bath on the balcony and probably hit the sweet spot. Unfortunately we had only 1 night stay, but it was fantastic. Onsen is located at the top station Gora, where you can get from Odawara. That’s around 2 hours from Tokyo all together, around 3 hours from Kyoto. Last 2 sections of the way are going through a picturesque steep railway. Views are great! Be sure to rush to the front or back seats (doesn’t matter which) to secure a spot for nice photographs. Private bath is fantastic, rooms are clean and spacious with a touch of ryokan style (tatami etc). That’s a perfect place to sit and relax doesn’t matter it’s sunshine or pooring rain outside. The food was fantastic (according to my wife), however the options are limited if you’re not eating fish or sea products due to allergy or other reasons. For Karaku team - I would suggest adding a signature wagyu set for those who would like something else. Selection of wine and alcohol drinks is superb. Free snacks and coffee are available till 8 p.m. as well with a view terrace. For those who like some regular conbini stuff - Lawson is around 10 mins walk with Miyazaki style trains passing by👌🏻 All in all, we wish we had stayed at least 2 nights as there are lots of activities around.  Thanks to Karaku staff for a warm welcome and tailored experience!

La nostra conferenza era accanto all'hotel, quindi l'accesso era perfetto. Si trova anche vicino a molti centri commerciali, negozi, ristoranti, ecc., quindi è comodo. Inoltre, è anche vicino a una stazione della metropolitana, quindi andare a Tokyo o altre destinazioni è facile. L'hotel in sé è carino, pulito, con buoni servizi. Un soggiorno eccellente!

Breve soggiorno di due giorni ad Hakone, abbiamo alloggiato in questo hotel immerso in un contesto a dir poco fiabesco. Pulizia, cordialità e tanta qualità. La stanza, una standard con vista sulla foresta, e vasca termale in veranda è stata una sorpresa, mitigando un poco la nostra frustrazione per il maltempo che ci ha purtroppo accolti. Il rumore della pioggia e lo stile puro jap della camera (tatami, finestroni in vetro scorrevoli) ci hanno coccolati come in un sogno. Bellissima l'area termale, dove si può apprezzare una splendida cascata, ma il pezzo forte arriva quando andiamo a visitare il giardino. Come ho già detto pioveva, il che forse è stato un bene perché eravamo gli unici alle dieci di notte, e ce lo siamo goduti appieno, in tutto il suo splendore; la massima rappresentazione dello stile zen. Le luci che illuminano il sentiero, gli alberi, i fiori, insieme al vapore che sale dalle limitrofe e bollenti acque termali, creano un'atmosfera mistica, lasciandoti dentro una sensazione di meraviglia e magia indelebile. Abbiamo sfruttato il pacchetto con la cena compresa a base di Kobe (teppaniaki) e ci siamo presentati al ristorante, accompagnati da un minibus messo a disposizione dall'hotel, in yukata, abiti gentilmente messi a disposizione dalla struttura. Altra esperienza indimenticabile. La colazione è ricca ed abbondante, tipicamente giapponese e quindi con prevalenza di pesce e pietanze locali, ma con un occhio di riguardo anche ai turisti occidentali meno propensi ad iniziare la giornata senza il croissant o le uova col bacon. Altra piacevole sorpresa è stato il fatto che alla hall vengano messi a disposizione, in maniera totalmente gratuita, dolcetti e gelati. L'unico neo, se proprio si vuol trovare il pelo nell'uovo, è stato il non trovare bevande calde e a volte la comunicazione col personale è stata difficoltosa per la loro non eccelsa, diciamo, conoscenza dell'inglese. Per il resto tutto Top.

La posizione è ottima, essendo vicino alla stazione. Inoltre, la colazione offriva un'ampia varietà di prodotti, tra cui gelato soft, budino e tofu alle mandorle, quindi ho finito per mangiare troppo! Mi piacerebbe molto soggiornare di nuovo qui se ne avessi l'occasione.

La vista dalla camera è bellissima e l'arredamento è molto elegante. C'è un minimarket al secondo piano dello stesso edificio, il che è davvero comodo. È anche molto vicino alla stazione della metropolitana. Mi è piaciuto molto soggiornare qui. Se dovessi tornare a Yokohama, sceglierei sicuramente di nuovo questo hotel. E anche la colazione è deliziosa.

Posizione: molto comoda. C'è una fermata dell'autobus proprio davanti alla porta. La posizione è un po' alta. Ambiente: è così bello, un giardino in stile giapponese con un senso di storia. Di fronte all'hotel c'è il Giardino Penglai e vari fiori sbocciano durante la stagione del Primo Maggio. Servizio: appena entri, ci sarà un maggiordomo che ti aiuterà con i bagagli e il servizio è individuale con un sorriso, il che è molto buono Igiene: Nonostante abbia una lunga storia, è ben protetta e le strutture non sono vecchie, pulite e confortevoli. Servizi: ci sono sorgenti termali pubbliche separate per uomini e donne, così come sorgenti termali private. C'è anche un'ora di bevute la sera e la colazione giapponese al mattino è piena di rituali. Un'esperienza molto soddisfacente L'hotel può spedire i bagagli alla stazione di Yumoto, il che è molto comodo.

This hotel is a paradise in the mountains of Hakone! Traditional style of the rooms - it feels like you are living in a Japanese family. We were prepared a traditional dinner, which was served in our room. It was very tasty and varied! The hotel has 3 onsen: 2 - private, 1 - public. We visited only the private ones (you need to book a time in advance at the reception upon check-in, the visit time is 30 minutes). It was wonderful! The hotel also provides a transfer from and to the nearest train stations. The rooms are clean, cozy, we slept on tatami under soft blankets. The hotel has a relax room. With massage chairs and a very quiet atmosphere. We stayed in this room after visiting the onsen and got great relaxation. And you are also given national clothes for rest and sleep. It is very beautiful and cute. Breakfasts were also in kaiseki style - varied and unusual. The hotel staff is very kind and friendly. this hotel allows tattoo baths. great experience, thank you very much! want to come back again!

The direction from minatomirai station to hotel wasn’t clear, resulting we have to walk one big round to the hotel. After seeking staff advise, we then know the correct way. The room and toilet was big and spacious. The bathroom has separate bathtub, shower room and toilet which we like it. The room has balcony which has a very good view of the sea and amusement park. It is just 5 mins walk to the amusement park, cup museum and world’s porta shopping mall with a lot of anime figurines and claw machine. It’s a good time to take a break before heading to Tokyo. From our room, we can even see both Tokyo tower and skytree. The staff are helpful and there is even luggage delivery service which I had arranged and paid a fee to have it delivered to my Tokyo hotel. Highly recommended this hotel.

Our experience staying in Hakone was perfect! We stayed at the Tensein in Hakone-Yumoto, an easy location to take the bus, car or train to some popular tourist attractions in the area. The check in itself was rather slow but the staff do their best to speak good English and discuss every detail about your stay with you. The room had everything we needed, the shampoo and conditioners provided was wonderful and there was a variety of products to use. On check in, the private onsen was given at 50% discount at 1,100 Japanese yen per use, we got 2 vouchers so used it 2 times (as we have tattoos we could not go into the public onsen). On check in you have to collect your towel and your choice of Yukata (traditional Japanese robe) which you’re welcomed and encouraged to wear around the hotel and gardens. The hotel is strictly no shoes, so upon arrival you leave your shoes in a locked box and keep the key. If you wish to walk around the beautiful gardens, there are slider type shoes available to slip on, as well as umbrellas to use if it’s raining. Outside they have a onsen for your feet to enjoy with a drink. All of the food and drink (apart from breakfast which was included) was put on our bill at the end. There was a wide selection of drinks, nibbles and food available for dinner and lunches at the dining room and there was a large buffet dining room for buffet breakfast and dinner (if you booked it). The hotel is just a short 10 minute walk to the town and 15 minute walk to the Hakone-Yumoto station. Visiting Mt Fuji is easy, with a bus ‘H’ running from stand 2 opposite the Hakone -Yumoto station. Get off at ‘Motohakone’. From there, you can take another bus and a train to get you to another town ‘Gora’ and surrounding attractions to enjoy.
