Non perfettamente organizzati ma il responsabile, gentilissimo, ha sempre saputo risolvere i problemi. In stanza mancavano gli asciugamani per due, abbiamo dovuto chiedere che venisse rifatto il letto ogni giorno, i cucchiaini lasciati sporchi sul vassoio in camera. Ma tutto sommato una buona scelta. La colazione che abbiamo deciso di prendere in seguito costa 9 sterline ed è davvero completa. Fuori costa di più d non ti sanno niente

I'd say overall a good hotel. Placed perfectly on the promenade for an early morning walk. Reception is clean and modern and the lounge area a great place to relax. The food, both Breakfast and evening meal were top class. Great, attentive service to boot. The room itself was decent. Two slightly negative observations. Throughout my 2 days there was a damp, musty smell emanating from the bathroom. Windows open during the day dealt with it. On the second day at 5.45 am there was an almighty bang and loud rattling banging which sounded like a boiler or pipes. I was at the back of the hotel which is also a little noisy. I will be back in September and will stay again however I will ask for a front facing room.

Rimasi per 3 notti nel luglio per il nostro anniversario.La stanza non era così grande come pensavo (le foto fanno sembrare le stanze molto più grandi di quanto siano), ma era ok. La copertura del cuscino era molto più piccola della stessa copertura, così c’era un guasto nel mezzo della copertura, e la copertura non andava al bordo del letto, così abbiamo finito di dormire nel mezzo della copertura. Le camere sono molto scure, quindi è difficile cercare di prepararsi in una serata e le soccette di accoppiamento non sono vicine agli specchi. La colazione era stile buffet per le prime due mattine. OK se ti piacciono le uova cotte, bacon e salsa. Il tostapane ha tostato solo una parte del pane. Non quello che si aspetta per un hotel presumibilmente 4*. La colazione alla mattina finale è stata fatta per ordinare così era OK. Il parco auto è sotterraneo che è un bonus ma è molto stretto da entrare. Non è bello se hai una macchina più grande della media.

We booked a suite and stayed in room 102 for 1 night as we were visiting for a friend’s wedding. Everything was faultless, our room was lovely with an impressive bathroom, robes, amazing sea view, complimentary mini bar, but what really made our stay was the wonderful customer service. Our flight in was very early, we called ahead to see if we could have an earlier check in which was honoured, we were so grateful for this as we were very tired from travelling. The breakfast was delicious, a choice of cooked breakfasts and continental buffet. A very much enjoyable and relaxing stay, thank you The Halvard, we’d most definitely book again.

Booked 8 days stay in Douglas IOM at HQ Bar & Restaurant in one of their flat/homes ?? I instructed them I would have 2 senior gentlemen and was looking for easy access, a family room was offered sleeping 6 (so I thought), turned out it would only sleep 5 at a push, 1 king size bed, 2 single and sofa bed. But this had no bearing as we were 3. In booking the accommodation directly with HQ Bar I thought this would be on their premises, not so as mentioned before, a family room offered in a converted house. When we arrived we were told to head down a steep incline to our destination flat/room/ hotel?? On entry through a dodgy front door (which became an issue throughout our stay) then on through a corridor into our room, it be came clear how cold the room was when we entered. 1. No heating in spite of the radiator’s thermostat set at 5, towel radiator not on, was told due to the hot weather they had. 2. No fridge, again told hotel “does not” provide fridge. 3. No Bath mat was told would get one. Point 1. Having mentioned I had seniors radiators SHOULD BE ON especially the towel rail, no one wants damp hand or bath towels not to mention guests catching a cold. This was meant to be a family room catering for families, lack of the basic. Point 2. Having mentioned no fridge surely being a “family room” there would / should have been one especially if there were babies / children ie milk, etc, I’m my case it would be used to keep my insulin in. Point 3. No bath mat essential when having a seniors around was told it be will looked into. All three points made clear to the owners. After my issue were raised on more than one occasion things happened. Heating was turned on, towel rail not working the fix it man turned up and heat in towel rail restored. A fridge suddenly appeared which was a borrowed one which lasted 3 days and broke down, a new replacement arrived 2 days later a day before we were to depart. During the times there was no fridge available my insulin was stored on H&Q premises either in the fridge behind the bar or in the fridge in the kitchen, but a few of the staff didn’t know where when I came to retrieve my medication. The bath mat I found stuck behind the towel rail had seen better days and was filthy but we had to use it for safety reasons. House keeping was a quick replacement of towels and beds made up. The toilet was in desperate need of some bleach or something in fact the all of the bathroom needed a daily cleaning and at a stretch a vacuum around. There is so much more I go could on about especially the breakfast on offer but! This establishment has a 4 star rating but we were very very disappointed throughout our it would have been batter given a 1 star rating.

After a very early ferry start of 2.15 am in the morning then a 4 hour crossing from the Uk arriving at the Hotel around 6.30pm I was totally impressed by the desk staff who gave me my room key because it was ready to go and this enabled me to shower and change and go for a 7am breakfast before going to bed for a few hours so as not to miss too much of my mini break in the Isle of Man. This is the 3rd time I have used this hotel and will continue to use it, so do all my family when they visit the island.
