Location -
Very good. Opposite Niigata Station, exit from Bandai Square. There is a Lawson opposite (Station side), and a 7 eleven next to the hotel. Located right along an entire street of food. Don Quijote is a 7 min walk away.
Room -
Huge, clean, comfortable. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. Lighting was a bit rigid and oddly placed, but not a big deal. Housekeeping does a great job.
Front Desk Service -
Queues on weekends are very long. Check in took 15 to 20 mins on a Saturday. Staff did their best to speed up the process by getting guests to fill up the information cards while waiting.
Staff don't interact or smile much. They can't speak English so you need Google Translate. They had 1 foreign staff on duty (who I assume can speak English on, as her colleague after struggling for so long to understand, turned to ask her before she helped). If not, she just stood there quietly, without offering any help of assistance, even though she immediately knew what we were asking for.
Amenities -
They don't provide the standard cotton wool and buds, have to purchase at extra cost.
There is green tea and coffee sachets provided for you to take in the lobby, as well as ear plugs.
Wi-Fi connection -
Strong connection, but a little spotty as connection will drop randomly.
Onsen/Lounge -
Very small, very crowded. While I was there, only 3 or 4 hair dryers, and all were being used by guests who were hogging it for over an hour as they were applying face masks, etc, so most people left with their hair wet. Weekends are definitely a lot more crowded, so avoid weekends if you can.
There's also a lounge area with 3 massage chairs, books, vending machine and big sitting area on the same floor.
Overall -
Great and enjoyable stay. Will stay again if we are in Niigata.
Great location, within 5mins walking distance from Niigata station. There are nearby convenience stores. The place also seemed to be recently renovated and is well maintained. Staff service was good. affordable breakfast buffet option is also available. The food was very good, the locally sourced rice is excellent.
We recently stayed at Hotel Okura in Niigata and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is beautifully situated overlooking the Shinano River, providing stunning views, especially during sunset. The location is very convenient, with easy access to the JR Niigata Train Station and Niigata Airport, making it a great base for exploring the area.
The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities. We particularly enjoyed the variety of dining options available at the hotel, including a French restaurant and a Japanese restaurant.
The staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. We appreciated their attentiveness and willingness to assist with any requests we had.
Overall, Hotel Okura Niigata offers a perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and excellent service. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Niigata.
situated at a very strategic location, this hotel is close to railway station, shops and restaurants. it is not a small boutique so expect very crowded and noisy in peak season. we stayed at the best room with onzen inside so the room is spacious. however, the onzen is tiny as compared to others I stayed before. did not try any restaurants this time. expect hotel price with average quality.
Very good location! Room is tidy and clean! But the room is a bit hot because there’s no air conditioning! The switches are for heating! The hotel provides free storage of luggages! So good we left our luggages and take a trip to Yahiko village!
Hotel fantastico, molto pulito, comodo e grande posizione.
Il personale del desk era solo carino e ci ha fatto sentire molto benvenuti e ci ha aiutato a parcheggiare le biciclette in un'area sicura e protetta.
Il 100% sarebbe tornato.

Molto buono
UUtente ospiteThe hotel itself was nice, but the staff at the ski resort was horrible, the rentals are also not well maintained. The boards are not waxed, which makes it difficult to work with as there are a lot of flat routes which are difficult to avoid (Pony and village road were the flattest slope Ive ever seen in my life, I had to unstrap and walk and the board just wouldn't move). Ski resort staff were unfriendly and the rental staff was the worst, there was a lady there that was cold and rude. The only reason why the rental shop is surviving is probably because the equipments are salomon branded and that there is no other option. I would visit again but only because the routes are fun, Myoko long run was the best, but I would never want to rent from the shop again.
The food was very very good. For breakfast, you could choose from western or Japanese buffet. Western buffet is highly recommended, the omelette was the best ive eaten in my life and there was a diy risotto which was great as well. For dinner, there were 4 options, either buffet, steak, Japanese or shabushabu. All requiring reservations which is tough if you are checking in the evening as some might not be available. Highly recommend the steak, the food was good and the staff were amazing. Japanese was the hardest to get a reservation for but the food was quite underwhelming. The room was clean and ski lockers are also provided but it's tiny and can barely fit 2 boards. But I wish that in the toilet in the common area, you can adjust the tap temperature as the water is freezing cold.
Amenities wise, bottled water are provided daily, also, yukata was provided but you can only wear them to the onsen which was extremely troublesome as I had to change multiple times a day.
The hotel provides shuttle bus services to and fro jyoetsumyoko station which was easy to book. The bus drivers were also friendly and helped out with the luggage.
In summary, for a 5 stars hotel, it didn't live up to expectations, ski resort and rental staffs were unwilling to help and unfriendly. Also, some of the staffs could not speak Japanese which is puzzling for a hotel in Japan. If not for the amazing snow and slopes I would never come back.

Great and enjoyable stay. Will stay again if we are in Niigata.
UUtente ospiteI’m giving my honest opinion. This is my first unsatisfied review for a hotel room. I was very disappointed by the room for the price I paid. I paid more for this room than what I paid for luxury upscaled room near Tokyo Disney. The photos online were very deceiving. When I entered my room, it was gross, i cringed, and my toes curled. I didn’t want to put my belongings down. The carpet was old and disgusting. The pull out couch bed was gross. There were stains on the couch back rest and the mattress. The sheet for the mattress was too small it didn’t cover the stained mattress. The beds were hard and didn’t feel clean. The shower curtain had a bad odor. The room was very dated. Since this hotel is pretty secluded and other hotels were booked we had to make do. I’m glad we only stayed one night. On a better note, the staff were very friendly and service was great. Location for skiing was amazing, and the free shuttle bus was fabulous. Naeba Prince Hotel really need to do better with their rooms. I was looking forward to bringing my entire family of 14 to stay a few nights next year, but after seeing the rooms, I will not stay here again unless they renovate their rooms which are in dire need of upgrades.
UUtente ospiteNot the most modern. But very cosy and warm, impeccable service and hospitality. Child play facilities inside the hotel (up to 6 or 7 years old). That's a bar for the adults too, open tab until the night. Private onsen is available for 1000jpy for 45 minutes, and is adjacent but separate to the public onsen that is available to hotel guests. Parking is just outside the hotel. Restaurants and snow gear rental is available down the road.
UUtente ospiteTravelling with my mom. Had a brilliant stay even though there were super strong winds on that night. There was perfectly delicious restaurants nearby, only 2mins away was ootoya- excellent food and service. The man who was running the hotel reception was so kind and friendly and went to extraordinary lengths to help us with our luggage and shipping to our next hotel. The breakfast was also yummy, simple flavors but wonderfully traditional japanese fare. My mom has some mobility issues too, so we were glad to see the relatively spacious room and wider than normal bath tub. 100% recommended!
One small issue with trip, not the hotel, I would have appreciated a more obvious flag out that the payment made online was a DEPOSIT. The man was quite flustered when I said I paid online already because you have to pay again when you get there then get a refund from trip after checking out. Please be aware of this when you book! But it was my oversight - although trip PLEASE emphasise these things a little more!
SSze Yu FungMy wife and I visited this onsen resort in 2023 and we loved it. My wife especially likes the many onsens they have. We have always wanted to come here again and finally did after 3 years. Like three years ago, the room and facilities are very clean and well maintained everything just as they were. One thing did change and we are quite upset about it, is that the staff is not as enthusiastic as they were (there are some familiar faces, many new ones). I still recommend this place to everyone, Futaba is still the best compared to the other two onsen resorts we’ve visited in between. Hope they can figure out some way to motivate the staff and offer a better experience to guests.
KK三浦Ho continuato a usarlo l'anno scorso.
La dimensione della stanza è simile a un hotel commerciale comune, ma rimane pulito e il letto si sente comodo.
La posizione è vicina all'intersezione, quindi è conveniente camminare intorno.
