We had a poor experience at La Mon hotel. We were first assigned room 1, which was very basic, sparsely furnished and looked like a hostel room with a view onto a wall and some weeds on the ground. I went to reception and complained and then got offered a ‘premium room’ which was room 53. I’m glad I didn’t get too excited because it was only slightly better than the first room, it wouldn’t be classed as a premium room in any other hotel that would call itself 4 star. Very basic, old, tired furnishings and bathroom in dire need of renovation. We ate in the mill restaurant where my husband ordered a prawn linguine which had no prawns in it. I informed the wait staff and was met with a shrug and an apology but no offer to rectify the situation . Poor atmosphere in the bar afterwards made slightly better by a nice singer with a guitar. The worst part of our stay was when we were woken up multiple times during the night by our radiator making extremely loud banging, drilling and screeching noises, this went on intermittently between 2 and 6.30 am. It was impossible to sleep. I brought this to the receptionists attention upon checkout where we were told we should have called the night porter to fix it? In the middle of the night? Looking back on previous reviews I see radiator and plumbing noise at night is a common complaint so it seems like they don’t care enough to do anything about it. I would never stay here again in this shabby and tired hotel, don’t waste your money and go elsewhere.

Had a cheap and cheerful wee night away to celebrate our belated anniversary! Was £49.50 pp - an absolute steal for a perfectly fine wee room and very decent and filling breakfast! We chose to also dine that evening in Le Winters - my Husband had the lamb,I'd the duck,we both had lemon cheesecake too & all of this was to die for! So rich and tasty! Heading to my friends in Ards to stay for a week on Tue and will definitely be calling in for grub- I seen that kids eat free if an adult eats too!! Looking forward to it! Thank you to the hotel and restaurant staff! Ps this hotel is unbelievably handy to the shopping centre and Ards Blair Mayne Spa if you fancy any retail therapy or relaxing!! I did both!!
