Maes Manor Country Hotel

Room was very tired and right above the kitchen with the fan on from 6:20am to 10:30pm. Food was tasty and plentiful. Staff lovely. Views fantastic. Just a shame such a beautiful building is so run down. However, for the price it was ok. If renovations were done, I’m guessing the price would double.

My wife and I attended a wedding (6/09/24) at the Maus Manor. We were met by beautiful grounds, a grand house and friendly staff. The wedding service was superb. We ended up booking a room at the manor instead of opting to go to 11 mile away Premier Inn. What a terrible mistake…!! We paid £95 for one night. The room on entry (at the outside block) was dreadful. Tired, dated and very small. But worse was to come. The TV would not switch on. The radiator, apparently on a timer, was pumping out heat that made you feel stuffy. I phoned reception to complain ‘Oh, it’s the remote. Could you bring it to reception?’ Braving the rain, my wife took the remote to the desk. On returning, still no TV function. I phoned again. Someone would get back to me. No one did. I phoned again, now feeling a little frustrated because our time for relaxing before the wedding night party was being taken up with room issues. ‘There must be a switch somewhere?’ Asked reception. No, no switch! It suddenly occurred to me that it must be a fuse box issue as none of the sockets were working. Eventually, they agreed to contact their call manager/maintenance man. He arrived, friendly, but full of excuses. Couldn’t get the TV to work, room would cool down after 10pm etc. I decided that I would not drink, we would attend the party for an hour. Then I would drive back to Bristol. I attended the reception desk after we packed, and asked for my money back. They didn’t quibble, and to be fair to the friendly, embarrassed staff they returned my card payment (which could take up to 5 days, so I hope they will?) But to my utter surprise, within minutes they handed over room 45 (Our dreadful room) to another wedding guest?? They couldn’t have returned to the room to address the problems, or inform the guest of those issues already surely..? I suppose the Maus Manor staff were relying on guests to be too drunk to notice or care? Don’t get me wrong, the rooms in the main house might be beautiful. We will never know.

My husband and I had our wedding here a few days ago. The maes manor staff were incredible from start to finish. Food was outstanding, they can’t do enough for you!! Absolutely beautiful venue and I will be re visiting shortly. Thank you to all the staff.

Only went for Afternoon Tea. Amazing selection. Guy serving was very polite and helpful. Chef even popped In to make sure everything was okay. Great! I phoned prior to request plain ham sandwiches (I'm super fussy) and this wasn't a problem.

We had double twin room, not much to it but beds were comfy and the room as clean. Could have done with one or two more plug sockets. The main issue we had was the heat in the room! We were located at the back of the hotel and checked in during the evening, therefore the sun was directly outside our room shining through the window! We opened every window possible and the heat was literally unbearable! I had to reapply my make up 4 times because I was sweating so much. It would have been helpful to have a fan in the room. Thankfully we were not in the room long and it became cooler once night came. Also our TV seemed unable to pick up satellite signal. Other than that no other issues. Breakfast was nice, a small cooked breakfast buffet and cereal, fruit, tea, coffee and juices were available.

We attended for our wedding day! The wedding went amazingly smooth Odett the wedding planner was lovely always attentive and things went amazingly well! Everything we asked for was done and the staff here were marvellous extremely lovely and a can do attitude! Odett was amazing and I would recommend a wedding here to anyone for the price and quality service nothing can compare!

Attended a funeral wake at Maes Manor yesterday. There was an extremely long wait for the buffet to be served and when it was served the food was absolutely revolting. All the guests were shocked at how bad it was. Potentially 50 odd guests who may have considered using Maes Manor who will most certainly won't after yesterday's experience.

We recently celebrated our wedding day here at the beginning of June. We couldn't have wished for a more perfect day! Everything went so smoothly and Odett our wedding planner was absolutely amazing. From the start right through until the end, both Odett and all the staff made sure everything was going as planned and constantly checking to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed. The attention to detail and friendliness of everyone was second to none and we would highly recommend Maes Manor Hotel. The venue itself is so beautiful and the grounds are picturesque, they made for beautiful wedding photos for us. We can't thank you all enough and hope to be back soon.

We arranged a viewing of Meas Manor on 17th July 2024 to the view of them hosting our engagement party. We were told that the room would be £500 if the numbers were below 50 people but has we were having 130 guests the cost would be only £50 so we agreed on a date of 31st August 2024 and would confirm the following morning. That night we contacted all our guest and gave them the location, time and date to attend the party. The following morning we called to pay our deposit but was told numerous times the event manager was to busy to take our call, after a few more attempts we ended up speaking to the general manager, when we explained we wanted to pay our deposit we were informed the price was infact £150 and the information we were given was incorrect. We decided that it wasn't the end of the world and agreed to pay the deposit, when asking about areas for entertainment we were informed that the DJ can only be provided by them and that no outside DJs would be permitted and the same with the food suppliers. So from our first visit where we were told it would be £50 for the room the price in 24hrs was now close to £1600. In the brochure they present to you when showing you around it has the prices of these services like its an optional extra, it does not say that it's the only option. We have now found another venue that is £50 for the room and we can provide our own food and entertainment although the venue is doing the catering. If you are in the early stages of looking for a venue then be very careful when using Maes Manor, we wasted alot of time contacting guest on the information they provided only for it to be a complete waste of time. They will incite you with a good price then only allow you to use their services. I understand they need to make money, but having 130 guest buying drinks isn't enough for them, being geedy and underhanded just ment we decided to use another venue. This is just an honest review of our experience, it's the start of our wedding journey so felt we would advise others in the same situation on what to expect.
