Hotel a 3 stelle a Wetzlar

The hotel has nice rooms, is located centrally in Wetzlar and has a very good breakfast. There is also a garage right underneath (costs 10€ a night) and plenty of restaurants in walking distance. The staff at the restaurant are very friendly and take care of their customers very well. However, the rooms do not have an AC and you cannot keep the windows open at night, so unless you like sleeping in 25°C +, I would not recommend staying there during summer. The WiFi is slow and unreliable and the temperature control in the shower seems to be merely a recommendation, since I had to tune it, sometimes for multiple minutes, every time I took a shower. Also, on my first checkin, I got assigned to an already occupied room, which lead to a very embarassing situation and made me afraid that someone else would be assigned to my room and suddenly burst in through the door during my entire stay, which is not something that should happen in a hotel. Yes, it was a human error, but the hotels IT system should prevent such incidents completly and this was the first time I encountered something like this in probably 250+ nights stayed in hotels.

Es ist sehr selten, dass man sich als Gast im eigentlichen Sinne und nicht nur als zahlender Kunde fühlt. Die Zimmer sind schön und sauber. Das Frühstücksbüffet ist sehr üppig und es wird auch - problemlos und gerne - auf Sonderwünsche oder -bedürfnisse eingegangen. So ist es auch möglich, dass man spontan glutenfreie Backwaren bekommen kann. Das Hotel liegt mitten in einer Wohngegend, sodass es sehr ruhig und entspannt ist. Zu empfehlen ist auch das Restaurant mit einer übersichtlichen und zufriedenstellenden Karte. Dabei fällt auf, dass viele Besucher aus der näheren Umgebung zu kommen scheinen. Dies trägt zu einem gewissen Lokalkolorit bei und spricht gleichzeitig für die Küche und das ausgesprochen freundliche Personal.

Unfortunately my stay was completely ruined by unbelievably rude, incompetent staff. I recieved the wrong meal from room service. Immediately called down and asked if it could be replaced by what I actually ordered. Initially this seems to be fine. Then someone claiming to be the restaurant manager called and likely said to me ‘its your problem you have the wrong food, not mine’ and I would just have to pay for what I received. And that I would have to pay ‘immediately’. I refused and was told unless I paid immediately I would be asked to leave the hotel (10pm). I still refused and after much discussion I was ‘allowed’ to settle the bill on checkout (which is normal anyway). The rudeness and attitude of this ‘manager’ is hard to comprehend or explain. Anyway after a somewhat stressful and sleepless night, I asked to speak with the manager. He couldn’t be bothered to come to speak with me. He just immediately told the desk agent to not charge for the food. No apology for a ruined dinner/stay. I cancelled my second night and left the hotel in the morning. All I can’t say is that I have fortunately never experienced anything so unbelievable in the past, I I still find it hard to believe the attitude of this restaurant manager. I cannot recommend this hotel less.

Dame an der Rezeption wirkte beim einchecken teilnahmslos. Zimmer waren soweit in Ordnung, allerdings Nachts mit offen Fenster schlafen kam man sich vor als ob das Hotel an der Autobahn liegen würde, also nicht so wie teilweise beschrieben leise, kann mir nur vorstellen das diese Bewertungen von Leuten getätigt wurden, die Zimmer nach hinten hatten und nicht wie wir zur Straßenseite. Außerdem wurde das Frühstück in den Bewertungen mehrfach gelobt, wir können nur sagen das ausser des Kaffeeautomates nichts wirklich lobenswert war. Wir kamen um 9 Uhr zum Frühstück da fehlten Brötchen, Rührei auch der Lachs war schon nicht mehr vorhanden. Wir mussten 10 Minuten warten bis das neue Brötchen aufgebacken waren und dann schmeckten die noch nicht einmal. Der Nachbartisch hat mindestens 3 Brötchen aufgeschnitten und liegen lassen weil alle krümelten und so hart waren. Da gleiche erwartet uns am nächsten Tag beim Frühstück.
