South Sands Hotel

I needed to stay in Weston overnight due to a family member having surgery at Weston Hospital, as I don’t live locally. Was originally going to book into a large chain hotel, but found this little gem to be both competitively priced and with a hot breakfast included. Plenty of parking, a delicious meal in the evening, quiet dual aspect room with bathtub to enjoy a soak after a long and stressful day, comfy bed and pillows, and an amazing cooked breakfast. Also, as a gluten free customer, I was delighted to find the menu was very gluten free friendly. The staff were friendly and welcoming too, especially Sarah during check in and dinner and Michelle at breakfast. Heads up to the chefs too. It was absolutely fantastic!

We have just returned from another fantastic stay at this hotel, this time for the Valentine’s evening. We had a really lovely evening. The food was fantastic and the singer was really good. We ate in the hotel again on the second evening and the food was lovely as was the breakfasts on both mornings. No complaints at all. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The staff were all so lovely too.

From arrival to departure, the staff at South Sands were absolutely lovely. Nothing was too much effort for them. I can honestly say they appeared to appreciate us being there. From keeping bar services available beyond the advertised time to ensuring no one was left waiting. Highly recommend this hotel. There are areas that would benefit from a bit of an uplift, which prevents a higher star rating. However, this is totally understandable since most reasonably priced hotels appear to be battling to survive at the moment.

Hotel itself was lovely and reception staff very nice.Room was OK,bed comfy.went to the restaurant for evening meal,I asked for pulled pork,chips+pepper sauce obviously on the same plate,received a pork+warm cheese roll with separate chips.Hubby complained and they replaced it with a pork roll! Small glass of Prosecco £8! Wasn't impressed with cooked breakfast either,bacon fatty,sausage horrible, only good thing was poached eggs.Continental breakfast looked nice though.Toast was fine as you do it yourself🤣Not suitable for people with mobility problems as steps everywhere

We waited forever to be served at an almost empty bar. Ordered 2 coffees and a “luxury” hot chocolate with 2 slices of cake. Waited and waited and waited for our order. Had to go back to the bar three times to find out what was happening. When eventually drinks arrived, coffee spilled everywhere, hot chocolate was small, lukewarm warm and again spilled everywhere. What an awful experience and NOT cheap!!!

The room was nice but cold. I had to wear a hoodie to bed the both night I was there. There was no extra blankets . The shower was filthy and the floor tiles were worn. We waited for 50 minutes for our breakfast to come which by then we left! The second breakfast was cold. I had smoked haddock which when I tried to cut it , milk oozed out of it! Which put me right off. For the price we payed for this hotel myself and my husband were very, very disappointed.
