The Waterside Hotel

Pros: Waterside is in a fabulous spot, right on the beach. Large car-park so plenty of space for all guest. Check in staff welcoming and helpful. Our room was on the first floor and overlooked the sea which was lovely. Sat for a while with the doors open to take in the sea air. The room was a nice size, clean and well decorated. Nice quality toiletries and plenty of towels. Booked for dinner in the restaurant and the evening team were super efficient and helpful. Food was delicious and portion sizes very generous, and reasonably priced. During the evening the hotel was relatively quiet and through the night just heard the odd banging of doors, sleep nicely until......(see the cons!) Nice breakfast with lots of choice Cons: At about 06.30 it sounded like a herd of elephants had invaded the floor we were on, lots of running about and noise......it was the bridal group utilising an area near to our room to have hair, make-up etc, exciting for them but boy what a nightmare for us. Rudely awaken by really loud voices. What had been a nice experience instantly was not at all relaxing, and the noise continued until we checked out at 10.00am. All we wanted was a peaceful lie on a Saturday morning. `The wedding and their guests / entourage seemed to take over the whole hotel, this was annoying as we hadn't been warned and it made us feel like we were in the way. Service at breakfast was also very slow, took the waitress about 20 mins to come to us for tea/coffee order. Sadly not as efficient as evening service team but when our food came it was tasty. Blue mugs out on tables could do with stain remover treatment! Tip: If there is a wedding party in, ask for a room away from the atrium area if the bridal party are going to be using it.
