Hotel in zona Tripod, Wellington

It's an older hotel and the halls smell a little funky but that quickly fades. The rooms show some signs of wear but are clean and have all the things you need. The bed was clean and comfy. The dining room was cozy and inviting. There seemed to be a little confusion in the kitchen, I know places are short staffed, but the food that arrived I really enjoyed. It is close to lots of things, I was on foot for this trip. The value was good for the price and I would stay here again.

The location is superb , right in the heart of Wellington CBD and close to a lot of tourist attractions but the building itself in general needs renovation. The service at reception is excellent (polite, friendly, professional). Highly recommended for one/two nights stay, especially at an affordable price like it was $40 per night compared to other overvalued accommodations. Happy with my journey to Wellington!

We really liked the Movenpick: tucked into a lush green hillside, the hotel exudes an old world charm matched with modern-day comforts. The room was quite small but well-appointed and very quiet. The service was excellent: friendly & efficient at all turns. Full breakfast buffet was lovely with a stunning view over the city. Unfortunately, we would not choose to return because of one room issue: the majority of lights in the room, including bedside lights and bathroom lights, are controlled by one master switch, an overhead light that lights up the whole room. Turn this overhead off and you cannot turn on those bedside lights nor the bathroom lights. Hence - no reading in bed without the whole room lit up; if you need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, you either trip around in the dark or wake up your sleeping partner with the light. When your partner accidentally turns the overhead off while you're in the shower? Welcome to Sensory Deprivation Shower time. It is such a shame, because but for this one issue we quite enjoyed our brief stay - but, if it had been a longer stay, I would have moved hotels. Lastly, a note: the hillside down to the main street of restaurants, shops and central downtown is VERY steep. We enjoyed the trek to & from, for the most part, but we both had to stop for breath on the way 'home.' If you do choose the Movenpick, make sure to pack sturdy walking shoes!

Mia moglie è stata ”homerick” quando abbiamo lasciato Wellington per qualche giorno e è stata felice di tornare a Gilmer con il suo confortevole letto e personale eccellente per accoglierci. Dopo tre settimane di viaggio sull'isola del Sud, poi tornato a Gilmer per altre due settimane nel marzo. L'hotel Gilmer è vicino a negozi e ristoranti accessibili a Lambton Quay e a pochi isolati dal fiume e dalle sue splendide viste. Il super amichevole manager Steffin e il personale di ricezione Antonia, Mya e Rachel si sono resi rapidi a raccomandare luoghi di visita e ristoranti dove cenare. Hanno davvero fatto il nostro soggiorno speciale. Il personale di custodia era anche molto piacevole e utile in tempo di Mia moglie è limitata a una sedia a rotelle, così siamo rimasti in una grande stanza accessibile con un letto di grande dimensione, un sacco di spazio per lei per maneggiare intorno, e eccellenti trammi di mano al doccia e al bagno, in modo che possa gestire le attività da sola. Great location and very friendly and helpful staff. Check in was a breeze, and we were allocated a room as requested, in a quiet zone of the hotel. Although on a steep hill, the elevator down the street level was a bonus. After a long day, we used the room service and can highly recommend the Haloumi Burger for something different. But please have a Club Sandwich on the menu in the future. The bed was terrific and we had a great sleep. Breakfast (included in our room tariff) was great. A take away container of fresh fruit offered was a nice bonus. Will I/We stay here again? Yes. Sure will.
