A great base for a 2 day trip to do some running and scrambling (plus a bonus swim) in Wasdale. The hostel is spaceous, in an interestinv old building with a well stocjed library of books and games. Superb views from the front across wastwater to the Screes.

Wasdale hall is an absolutely excellent YHA , I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. It’s situated in the most beautiful part of the Lake District and provides a wonderful base in which to walk the Wainwright’s . The hall is one of the cleanest YHA’s I’ve stayed in and the staff are so helpful and friendly.

Charming stay at a historic YHA by a beautiful lake—perfect for a swim! Beds are small but comfortable, and the friendly staff make you feel at home. A cozy spot with a fantastic, scenic location. Food was limited with Pizza and soup but apart from that it’s self catering with appropriate equipment.

One of the most beautiful places I've been to. Scenery second to none, very clean rooms, toilets and showers. Great staff Mike, Sally Ann and James nothing was too much for them including getting the log fire up and running in the library 5*****

A beautiful place to stay, fantastic views across Wast Water and lovely old building with ornate fireplaces and ceilings. It was warm and cosy. Our host Mike was great. Very welcoming and went out of his way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.

Excellent stay,staff were friendly and helpful and as always the hostel was impressively clean, and a most relaxed and pleasant atmosphere throughout the hostel which extended to the guests. For those who love the outdoors the YHA is an economical way of enjoying seeing new areas

Wonderful hostel in a wonderful location. It is a beautiful old hall and absolutely exhibits the ethos of a traditional YHA hostel. The staff were really friendly and helpful, we met some great people and breakfast was plentiful and tasty. We would love to go back sometime.

My 13-year old girl and I turned up here at 10pm on a Wednesday while trying to get to Borrowdale YHA but knowing we were going to arrive too late to check in (I had called Borrowdale and they had someone until 11pm, but we had taken a wrong turn and we were definitely too late). There were no spaces left, but the manager welcomed us and phoned around several YHA's in the area to try and transfer our booking. In the end, we had to settle for a nearby Inn, but we couldn't have found it without his help since there is no reception in the area. The building looked gorgeous, it's in a beautiful place and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting! We would have loved to have stayed there, maybe next time!

We (2 adults and 2 teens) stayed at Wasdale Hall in mid June for two nights. It was a really wonderful stay. The location is great and our private room had enough space for us to not feel cramped. It was a good location as a starting point to some awesome hikes and walks (Scarfed Pike, and a nice stroll to the Sawmill Cafe). Wasdale Hall overlooks Wast Water, which is apparently a great for wild swimming. I didn't buck up enough courage to go for a swim this time, but I will next time!
