Hotell St Clemens

I would 100% stay here again and so glad I vetoed my husbands first choice of Clarion hotel. This place oozes with charm, history and outstanding staff . Molly and Hugo were so friendly , helpful and gave excellent recs for places to visit and restaurants . Breakfast was outstanding and the location right next to cathedral ruin was just magical . Coincidentally ‘The Medieval Festival was happening during our visit so I was in musical heaven and concerts were happening next to our hotel in the ruins

I fell in love with this hotel when I first saw the ruins of St. Clemens in the backyard. Very clean rooms, delicious breakfast with fresh pastries, incredible coffee and tea. And what a cool staff! Many thanks to Hugo for his charm, tips for great places in Visby and Gotland and fantastic tea from Kränku as a present! We rented bikes and were allowed to keep them on the premises. Very helpful staff! I encourage you to spend evenings in the courtyard in front of the majestic ruins with a cup of fantastic tea with incredible saffron cookies that are baked in the hotel. I thank the hotel and staff for these wonderful evenings! Big thanks to Hugo! 😊

We celebrated our wedding day here as family took over our Visby flat. Hotel St Clemens is the natural choice thanks to it’s lovely staff, delicious vegan friendly breakfast, nice interior & business steeped in sustainable thinking. More hotels should be like this: luxurious yet responsible.

Great place to stay. Hugo was super friendly when we checked in and gave us a lot of information about things to see and where to walk. The room was extremely spacious with a solid breakfast. The area within the walls was walkable and because of Hugo we saw some great sights and had a wonderful dinner.

The hotel‘s location is superb for easily reaching the Old Town attractions and waterfront by foot. But: Since the main road is passing St. Clemens, the rooms facing the street get all the noise of the food suppliers etc. early in the morning (and of passers-by at night, especially during the medieval week in August). Apart from that, I can highly recommend the hotel!

Everything was good! Personnel was kind and responsible. Hugo recommended a lot of to-do things in Visby. Room was clean but a bit noisy because was located next to the road. The breakfast was delicious.

We decied to visit Visby for a change of pace after a few days in Stockholm. I am so glad we did this. Visiting Visby was such a wonderful time. There are thoughtful details everywhere at Hotell St. Clemens, within the rooms and also across the property. Thoughtful examples include a generous breakfast spread from I think 0600-1000 or 1030, seating options inside and outside, daily house keeping which may be declined in exchange for a donation to save a type of bird (I can't remember which one), shampoo/conditioner/soap/lotion provided in the bathroom, multiple layers of lighting within the room (big overhead light, two small window chandeliers, a floor lamp, and two bedside lamps), and two lines of coverage from the very early morning sun (blackout roller shades and heavy curtains). We did not rent a car or bicycles for this trip so we spent two days walking around Visby on foot, exploring the shops and restaurants and also walking along the wall and shoreline. The hotel's location is perfect for a short walk to everything, especially the beautiful botanical garden! Honestly, I was sad to leave, worried Hotell St. Clemens, Visby, and Gotland might all be gone or different the next time we return. This is silly to think, though. Visby and Gotland have an extensive history, and even Hotell St. Clemens has a long and proven track record of consistently excellent service. I look forward to staying at Hotell St. Clemens again when we return to Gotland (next time with a car!).

I took trip alone after my hockey season was over for a sort of personal retreat, fresh air, and quiet time, and I couldn’t have chosen a more beautiful place to stay. The hospitality did not disappoint— the atmosphere is so pleasant and helps you to slow down and enjoy. I truly could not complain about anything if I tried!
