I recently stayed at the Shinjuku Capsule Hostels, which is conveniently located near the bustling Shinjuku Kabukicho Bar area and adjacent to the famous Golden Gai. The hostel occupies floors 4 to 8 of a large 7-story building.
Pros:
• Central Location: Its proximity to key attractions in Shinjuku makes it an ideal place for travelers looking to explore the city.
• Affordability: One of the major advantages is the hostel’s affordability, making it a budget-friendly option in a typically expensive city.
Cons:
• Complex Layout and Access: Navigating the hostel can be a bit confusing, with separate lifts for different sets of floors and the reception located on the 4th floor.
• Restrictive Rules: The hostel imposes numerous rules that can feel restrictive. For instance, you need to leave your shoes and keys at the reception every time you go out, which can be inconvenient.
• Limited Bathroom Facilities: There are no showers on each floor; instead, guests must use the sauna on the 4th floor for bathing. This can be quite cumbersome, especially for those staying on other floors.
• Cramped Living Quarters: With more than 50 beds per floor and only a small bathroom area, the hostel feels crowded, and it can be a long walk to the toilet facilities.
