We stayed at the Poplars for three nights in a B&B room. The room was spacious, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. A complimentary tray with tea, coffee, water and biscuits was replenished daily. The breakfast was wonderful. A varied choice is available, cooked to order each day by Amanda, who goes the extra mile to make guests feel welcome. We look forward to returning to the Poplars next year.

The self catering cottages are excellent. We were in Herriot cottage. Amanda seems to have thought of everything and the cottage was very clean. Highly recommended

My family of three stayed in the Nidderdale EnSuite room. It was plenty big enough and the beds were very comfortable. Nice touches included tea and biscuits awaiting our arrival in our room. We did not partake in breakfast due to other plans with family, but I have no doubt it would have been lovely. Amanda had great communication prior to our stay. I would definitely recommend it.

Great location for Getting Around the Yorkshires
Stayed in the Ryedale suite with breakfast. Very clean and comfortable room with private entrance. Full English breakfast was amazing with many other choices as well. Owner was very helpful and pleasant. Great walkable location to the train station into York. Wonderful time!

From 1st arriving we were greeted and given information, after that we were left to do our own thing.. lovely little cottage called poppys lodge so clean and comfortable, add extras where the horses and donkeys that loved a stroke. Would definitely recommend this lodge to friend and family

An excellent stay at The Poplars in Poppys lodge. Amanda was a great host and so easy to communicate with.
The Poplars is in a lovely spot with countryside right on the doorstep. The lodge had everything we needed and beds were very comfy. Lovely and clean. Will definitely be back if in this part of Yorkshire again.

We were upgraded for free to the Rose cottage from a triple room! Beautiful cottage, clean and warm. Excellent location and lovely staff. Easy walk or drive into Thirsk and surrounding area. Perfect relaxing weekend away, we will certainly stay again, thank you.

Very comfortable room and a delightful welcome from the host.

Amanda & Richard and their lovely family treated us to an amazing 2 day stay, with the comfiest of rooms (especially the king size bed), delicious breakfasts (the black pudding is the best), and wonderful friendly hospitality. So close to Thirsk and the convenient train station, and yet within a stones throw of the most beautiful Yorkshire Countryside and amazing pubs & breweries. On our trip we visited the fascinating Druids Temple & Swinton Estate, and tasted the best beers in the UK at Theakston's Brewery in Massam & The George at Wath. Amanda & Richard take great pride in Yorkshire making sure food is sourced locally & recommending excellent places to visit. They do everything they can to make sure your trip is memorable and, most importantly, that you feel at home. We will definitely return.
