Tha Taphao: hotel con bar

We arrived around 10am requesting an early check-in, and the receptionist graciously found us a room. We opted for the deluxe king which turned out to be a corner room, giving us an extra window, which was nice. The downside was that the TV, normally placed where the window was, is now displaced into the corner of the room and smaller than the others. Only Thai speaking channels. The square balcony is nice, with a solid timber table and chair. The room is quite bright, but the bathroom is dark, even with the light on. The king bed is in one piece and comfortable but only one pillow each. The lift is small and very slow (we were on the 5th floor). Breakfast is on the top floor and is pretty ordinary, cutlery is the cheapest I’ve seen anywhere, which I always think, is often an indicator of the quality of the food. The location is good, in the centre of town but set back from the busy street. There is a 7/11 across the road and a Big C a few doors down. The main shopping mall of the town is 5 minutes walk and has a cinema complex, Starbucks and MC restaurant. This mid-range hotel is perfectly adequate for one nights stay but it’s definitely not stand out. I’m giving it four stars.

Solo una notte si fermò in attesa di andare a Ko Tao. Ci erano solo due pigiami forniti su un letto regina, quindi ho chiesto un terzo pigiami e sono stato incontrato con “non abbiamo più pigiami”. Beh, per un hotel di buona dimensione non l'ho comprato per un minuto. Aprirono una stanza accanto al divano per mostrarmi che non avevano le mutandine, immagino che pensassero che io fossi *****. Sapevo che l'hotel era lontano dal pieno, quindi suggerisco di usare una da una stanza non usata. Bene alla fine del giorno hanno trovato uno per me da usare. La piscina era bello e rilassante. Abbiamo cenato in sala da pranzo che era sorprendentemente buono. Non posso dire lo stesso per il colazione. Uova fredde e nessun bacon. Non è terribile, ma non è così buono come ho avuto nelle ultime settimane. Neanche le uscite elettriche su entrambi i lati del letto.
