Clean room good location to town. Kitchenette was well equipped. Quiet field as the back drop for outside dining. East walk to town and great jump off point for Abel tasman. Super energetic hosts with cleanliness of the room with soft bed a welcome rest.

Accomodation was very nice, clean with amazing views. Kitchen was equipped with all essentials. Acdomodation was very close to main town and at walking distance to shops. Owner was very friendly and helpful. We had an amazing stay. Highly recommend this place.

What a lovely couple running this place. Made sure we had everything needed for our stay and for our onward travels. Conveniently located a short walk from everything. Great rooms. Lots of space. Will definitely stay again next time we visit the area.

We stayed in Golden Bay to visit family last week and feel so fortunate to have booked at the Mohua Motel. It’s perfectly located on the edge of Takaka town with an easy walk to shops, restaurants, galleries, and museum. Our room was spacious and well appointed , and exceptionally clean. This is an owner operated motel. The owners are on site and are lovely, friendly and helpful.

We were welcomed to this motel by the new owners - Nirmal and Katrin. Lovely people who couldn’t do enough to ensure we made the most of our 3-night stay here. From ensuring we had basic necessities, to advising on local places to visit or booking tables at local restaurants. The motel is ideally located for visiting various attractions in the area and the room/motel was kept exceptionally clean. Well worth considering if you are going to be staying in the area. We had a room with a bath/spa which came in handy after longer walks. There is ample parking on the premises.

The Mohua Motels team understand the complete customer experience. My positive experience started with the check-in. Nirmul and Catherine (I hope I spelled their names correctly) worked to ensure I had the quiet room I requested. Next, there was a last check before I entered the room to ensure it met the motel standards. Then there was the offer to help me with my bags. How many motels does that happen at? The room was spotless, everything was up to date, a firm mattress and even an ethernet cable. I loved the plunger coffee, the bottle of fresh milk and the hot chocolate. I was treated like a family member - the kind of family that is totally helpful without being intrusive. The motel is just a short walk from a large FreshChoice supermarket and multiple very good restaurants. Tip for ice cream lovers - try the ice cream at Golden Fresh Fruit Ice Cream on the main road! Highly recommend this motel for others. You deserve this type of attention and standards while traveling. Added bonus was the lovely sunset I witnessed from the motel's courtyard!

Great motel, good comfy beds, extremely clean, good location - lovely couple running it! Excellent choice in Takada 2 min walk to Main Street. Well equipped kitchen with tea and coffee making facilities, spacious well appointed rooms in excellent condition.

We were very warmly welcomed with the owners going out of their way to make sure everything was fine. Well appointed rooms. Very clean and comfortable. Easy walk to town. Very central if you are looking at exploring Golden Bay and areas close by.

Luxurious beds, Clean, Powerful Showers. A good quality motel. Great location, it was nice to be 2 minutes from town. Super freindly and accommodating managers. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Enjoyed staying at Mohua motels. Everything from greetings, check in and the room was perfect. The staff are amazing - very friendly, and go out of their way to make sure the rooms are of high quality and to make you feel welcome. The rooms are spotless, there is a good sized bathroom with good quality toilettries, and the bed is comfortable. The room I booked had a kitcehnette (2 ring hob and microwave) - useful if you fancy a simple meal in. There is plenty of easy parking outside the rooms. I did notice there is a guest laundry room, but I didn't need to use it. The motel is conveniently located at one end of the town - easy for evening dining out. Really enjoyed the stay, and would book again without hesitating.

Good location for our purpose. Lots of rain that weekend so the space and facilities inside were appreciated especially the pause option on sky so we didn’t miss the rugby! Very helpful and friendly staff that helped out and nothing too hard for them.

Horrible weather on my way to Patons Rock road closed south of Tākaka so got one of the last two rooms at the Mohua Friendly host room was clean bed comfortable and lovely pounding shower Also blessing in disguise as they had Sky sport so binge watched rugby and cricket with All Blacks and Black Caps playing

This is my second stay there, and this time, it was even better than I remembered. The clean, easy BBQ, peaceful sleep, clean unit, and friendly service were all faultless. The owners are new and super-friendly and helpful. Conveniently located near the supermarket and a two-minute walk from great restaurants, cafes, bars, and boutiques. Lots of bird life and grazing cows top off the stay. Still highly recommended!!
