We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Syros and the Diogenis Hotel was a wonderful location - literally across the street from the ferry port. Hermoupolis is a thriving town, that doesn't appear to have been discovered by Americans yet. Many good restaurant and beach options. Strongly recommend driving around the island to check out the beach towns - easily done in a day. The staff were so helpful and friendly, directing us to good restaurants and rental car services. A few suggestions - request a room with a view of the port on the 2nd floor or higher. Much better views on the upper floors. And even with the wonderful views, plan on closing the windows at night due to the noise from the port. Good news - the windows cancel out the noise and the rooms are air conditioned. Also we found the breakfast to be sub-par - would have preferred a larger selection of pastries (though the breakfast cakes were delicious), fresh juice (vs. watery bottled stuff), and better coffee. The bathrooms are small, more European size - but more than adequate. In summary, we would stay at the Diogenis again in a heartbeat because of the location and the quality service.

Questo è un hotel a buon prezzo proprio al porto - in realtà, abbiamo camminato fuori dalla nave, abbiamo preso una sinistra e abbiamo visto l'hotel - a pochi minuti dalla nave (e siamo stati grati). Ci siamo saluti, abbiamo avuto la nostra stanza, hanno portato i nostri bagagli, e abbiamo aperto la finestra al porto e al mare ... Bello! Mi piace davvero l'entrata dell'hotel che è messo con tavoli, bar, colazione - è un bel look e un bel sentimento. Le camere sono belle, i letti confortevoli, il colazione terribile, e tutto a passeggiata. Noi abbiamo affittato una macchina vicino alla porta e che rendeva facile esplorare. Syros ha alcuni negozi, ristoranti e siamo stati vicini a tutto questo. Tu cammini sulle scale perché non c'è ascensore, ma non è stato un problema - è Grecia! Fai un sacco di camminare e salire - tutto bene! Tutti gli ospiti sono benvenuti e utili. Controllano i tempi, fanno buone raccomandazioni e sono utili. Questo è un buon posto a Syros!
