Pros Il cameriere del ristorante è stato così amichevole e accogliente, grazie. The price increase in a days spa has prevented me from being able to go to the spa as often as I used to, however, we managed to get an autumn glow package, which included a 7 hour visit, lunch, free drink on arrival and one hour treatment. The same package last year also included the salt room, but this was not in the package this year. I’ll start with the pros, there are many. The staff were fabulous, really helpful, welcoming and friendly. As a vegan, I was more than happy with my vegan mezze platter and the new outdoor/indoor restaurant area is really lovely. The treatment was excellent, we had a facial and back and feet massage. Again the staff were lovely and we had camomile tea in the relax room afterwards. The swim up pool is great however, I found the water a bit too hot. Cons: The day we visited the spa was quite busy and we didn’t get around all of the outdoor rooms/areas but here is my experience of the ones we did visit. The steam room, both my friend and I and two other people noticed that the seats were slimy in places. I don’t know what causes this it might be quite natural but it wasn’t pleasant, it was mostly at the edges. From here we went to the cold bath. I love the cold bath experience and the exhilaration you feel when you get out, however, the bath had black lumps and white gooey pieces floating in it. Again not pleasant and I don’t know what it was but it certainly wasn’t nice. The paving around the swim up pool, was green in places and needed a good cleaning. We noticed stains on the day beds, the edges and the cushions. The floating beds in the indoor pool had black mould on them and one in particular smelled of mould. The cons didn’t ruin our day, but, we noticed them and other people will too. They need attention because the price for a day spa is high and I do expect everything to be perfect as it has been in the past.

Spent 2 nights here for a trip to Alton Towers and had a wonderful time. The guesthouse is a short drive away from Alton Towers which was very handy following a tiring day on the park. The room we stayed in was a good size with an en-suite and was spotless! There was a fridge with tea and coffee making facilities, complimentary bottles of water and fresh milk provided. We also made use of the smart tv to watch Netflix and Disney+ We loved the breakfast with my partner enjoying the Staffordshire Oatcakes and myself having the full English. The homemade jams were lovely on toast! We’ll definitely look to book again next time we visit Alton Towers.

Our wedding day at The Upper House was truly unforgettable. From start to finish, the entire day was flawless, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the incredible support we received from the team. Ellie and everyone involved went above and beyond to ensure that everything ran smoothly, making us feel supported and looked after at every step. We did not have a venue dresser, so we did this part ourselves. With the help and coordination of Ellie and her team we were able to set things up the evening before and the morning of the wedding with no complaints. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful. Every corner of The Upper House has such character and elegance, providing the perfect setting for our big day. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how stunning it all looked and how much they enjoyed the atmosphere. Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, but the team at The Upper House made the entire process feel effortless. They were always available to answer questions, provide recommendations, and accommodate our requests, all with such kindness and professionalism. On the day itself, they worked seamlessly behind the scenes, allowing us to enjoy each moment without a single worry. Thank you to The Upper House for making our wedding everything we dreamed it would be – a beautiful, memorable, and incredibly special day. We would recommend this venue to anyone looking for a wedding experience that’s as perfect as it is personal.

Excellent room and en suite, very clean and seemed fairly newly furnished/decorated. Had booked a twin queen bed as was only available at time of booking (didn’t need two beds) and they did automatically switch me for what I think was a king bed on arrival and it was a very spacious room. Minus a point for dinner at the hotel which is a bit of a let down. - The allergens listed on the menu at reception didn’t match the allergens listed on the menu in the restaurant, so despite pre deciding what to have, was a bit of a let down to find some dishes were no longer allergen free - Also had my starter and main arrive before my drink did, despite ordering at the same time (they did apologise, as they were busy) -dinner in the restaurant was over priced for what you get (no seasoning or flavour) Breakfast however was great and excellent quality for buffet style. I used the gym and although small, it was great for a short stay and a nice to have. All staff were super friendly
