Hotel 2 stelle a Jianchuan

Not in Shaxi town itself but it is literally right across the river (less than 10min walk). The taxi can't drop you right infront of the house but the owners came out with a cart to help us with the luggage! Nice and quiet stay, the owners are very warm and accommodating. They assisted with booking of car from Dali and to Lijiang, even suggesting various options to help us save cost!! No issue with cleanliness too. Highly recommended to anyone. Would stay again if I return!

Genuinely one of the best homestays I’ve stayed in in all my years of traveling to China. The owner, 武哥, puts a lot of work into maintaining a beautiful courtyard full of roses, succulents, and fruit trees—but more importantly, is just a wonderful person. He consistently went above and beyond into making my stay feel like home, from sharing home-cooked meals to introducing me to all sorts of local specialties I otherwise wouldve never found. Additionally, the building itself is also quite special in fully preserving its traditional Bai wooden architecture. Location: It’s tucked away in a quiet village (you’ll see sights like a guy who walks his herd of goats at the same time every morning) but also has attractions nearby, including a convenient 10-min walk to the backhills of Shibao Mountain to see ancient grottoes. Shaxi Old Town is about a 25 minute walk away, but the homestay also has bikes or electric scooters that you can borrow. Amenities: My favorite room was the study, which has full, wall-to-ceiling bookshelves. There are also several outside seating areas that overlook the nearby mountains and fields with amazing views at sunset. If you come in spring, the aroma of honeysuckle adds to the ambiance too, and you can see stars at night. Cleanliness: Spotless. All in all, I truly couldn’t recommend a better place. I learned that many of its guests return every year for several weeks or months at a time. Clearly it’s a place that people treasure, and for good reason. At its core, this homestay defines what makes Shaxi so special: human connection, peaceful village living, and giving you the space to slow down and appreciate.

Shaxi è un ruscello limpido in mezzo al trambusto dell'industria. È un idillio pastorale fatto di semplicità, natura, facilità e svago. Ci sono diversi alberi e il Giardino Monet nello Shaxi B&B è pulito e ordinato. I fiori e le piante crescono rigogliosi, i cuccioli scorrazzano liberamente, i dipendenti sono cordiali e semplici, tutto ritorna alla natura senza perdere calore. Rallenta ogni cosa, ordina una tazza di caffè profumato e goditi in silenzio l'arcobaleno colorato e l'immensità del cielo stellato. Alloggio in famiglia molto carino 👍👍👍

Il piccolo cortile è molto, molto, molto carino. Si capisce a colpo d'occhio che il padrone di casa se ne prende cura bene. Anche i bambini del padrone di casa sono molto carini. La colazione dovrebbe essere cucinata dal padrone di casa stesso, ed è anche molto deliziosa. La stanza è molto pulita e vicina alle attrazioni circostanti!

The room was modern, spacious, and exceptionally clean. One of our favourite features was the tatami area, which became our little family corner to sit, chat, relax, and spend quality time together after a day of exploring. The design strikes a nice balance between contemporary comfort and local charm. The surroundings are peaceful and offer a slower pace of life, making it a great place to unwind and experience the beauty of Shaxi. The hosts were also warm and welcoming. A couple of things to note for future guests. There is currently quite a bit of renovation and construction work going on in the surrounding area, so the scenery and atmosphere may not be as idyllic. In addition, the access may be challenging for travellers with young children, elderly family members, or heavy luggages. There are steep steps to reach the reception area, and depending on your room location, you may need to climb up to three storeys to get to your accommodation. That said, the comfortable room, thoughtful design, and cosy family-friendly space more than made up for these inconveniences. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to travellers looking for a modern and comfortable base in Shaxi.

This was an absolutely incredible experience. While this was pretty far outside of Shaxi, it was very close to the Shizhongzhwn grottos and Baoxiang temple. The village itself is ancient and very beautiful. There is a reservoir to walk around in and an amazing strawberry farm! The hotel itself was stunningly beautiful, with very comfortable, clean and modern. The owners cooked us a delicious dinner and breakfast that was too much food and so so tasty! We loved their cat and the hospitality was among the best I’ve ever had! Thank you so much! Would recommend 100% if you have a car! Note, we did not have a car and used a didi to get there. To get home, we asked the local coffee shop and they were also very welcome and accommodating. They asked a friend to drive us to see the grottos, temple, and then to Shaxi. He was very kind, friendly, and patient. We had an amazing time here!

1. Service: the hotel owner is helpful to asnwer many questions of mine and responded very quick (on Wechat). I left a pair of shoes at the hotel and he helped me to send it to my hotel in Kunming. The car can park in front of the hotel so you can ask your driver to drop you off at the hotel. If not then you can ask the hotel to pick up your luggage and you walk to the hotel yourself in case the car drop you off at the ancient town entrance. 2. Location: 5 minutes walk to the ancient town. Those who like nature, quiet, then it is the place. But it very near to Yujin bridge. There is also a local market near the bridge. I found some nice wooded stuff, and bought some spices there too. 3. The hotel: the upper floor room has view to the lake, the mountain. No breakfast is served. The room is ok with all the basic facilities. 4. The price: compare to the hotels I have stayed in Baisha, Dali and Kunming, I find it a bit high comparing to the others. Photos: 1. The inn is very beautiful, it is a 100 year old house, at the center of the town so it is very convenient to go visit all places. The owner is also very helpful, he helped pick up/deliver our luggages to the street where we got dropped off/departed. He also helped us to reserve seats for shared car to the next destination and answered any questions that we have (via translation apps or wechat). Everyone in the inn is friendly, highly recommended for staying in Shaxi.

Hostel was decent, and good value. Bed was hard but comfortable enough. Bathrooms were clean enough, although for foreigners just know there's only squat toilets. The staff were helpful, and good with using translators to explain everything which was appreciated. Location is great, perfect to spend a night in Shaxi for a good price. However there was no lock on the door to the room (although there is a small locker in the room), but given its a small town security isn't too much of an issue. I forgot to take photos of the rooms but the view from the roof is nice. Overall, decent stay.

I had a great time! My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and loved it! The room is very spacious and comfortable, the location is also very convenient, close to main points of interest! We also received a great welcome and were well treated by the owners!! I wish we could have stayed longer, the city is wonderful and the accommodation was very good.
