We are Hilton Honors Diamond members. We have stayed at Hilton properties all over the world and enjoy the consistency of the properties within the brands. This is the first time that we left a hotel early because of deplorable conditions. I read the reviews here on Trip advisor and thought "it can't be that bad". I was proven wrong. There is MAJOR renovation being conducted on this hotel. There was no warning on the website, no email telling us the extent of the renovation or communication from the hotel. We would have made a better choice. We were told at checking that the 2nd and 3td floors of the hotel were closed to guests (but I had to go to 2 to get ice). We like to stay on the higher floors for a sense of security and we try to avoid the first floor, especially at "pet friendly" hotels. We stayed in room 140. The beach view was great but the room should be taken out of service and deep cleaned. The patio furniture had to be wiped before we could use it. There are more than 28 places on the carpet where someone's pets had relieved themselves and it was not cleaned up. These carpets are disgusting and have not been cleaned in a long time (if ever). We felt dirty and did not take our shoes off. I've attached pictures. The Internet was so slow it took minutes to load and answer emails. I'm supposed to get "Premium Internet" but that apparently wasn't an option. I rely on the internet to work in the room during the day so that was a problem. The next morning, I asked again to be moved to an upper floor but was only offered a different room on the first floor. This room was a little better, but still had pet stains on the carpet (just not as many). Instead, I decided to relocate to a different hotel. When I checked out, I asked to retain the key so that I could relocate our belongings in multiple trips. I explained that my wife had our car at work, and that I would be walking. The desk clerk (I'm sorry that I was too upset to get her name) emphatically told me that checkout time was 11AM and she did not charge me extra for checking out at noon. I needed to vacate the room, or she would have to charge me an additional $100. I indicated that we are diamond status, and she said that did not matter. She did not even offer to store some of the bags until I returned for them. Breakfast was another adventure. We arrived at 6:30 AM (it is supposed to run from 6 AM to 9 AM) only to find that the only thing ready were some overcooked omelets. The lady setting up breakfast said she had potatoes and sausage, but 15 minutes later when we left, they still had not been brought out of the kitchen. Parking is $16 a night. There are gates installed on both parking lots that require a room key for access. Unfortunately, the gates were left open and all the beach goers park there for free, making finding a space difficult at times. In summary, when the bulk of the current reviews are bad, heed the warning. There The reno
