!! WARNING !! - parking is very difficult, but not anywhere as difficult as dealing with the host Onur !! We made the mistake of being naive enough to ask him for local parking advice. We were told ‘all neighbourhood has free parking and to park like everyone else’ which we then did and have evidence of. We parked one block away, took the last available spot on a road lined completely with cars, and parked with 2 wheels up on the curb like every other car. The next morning the section of street we parked on was completely empty, no parked cars. Our car ended up being towed, and we had over 100€ in fines/fees. I assumed bad luck, lesson learnt. A kind shopkeeper on that street explained where our car might be and that parking isn’t allowed on that street. We actually had a pleasant experience with the towing company and the city in processing our car/fines. I dropped Onur a message just to let him know that - no, some streets don’t allow parking, and that despite following his instructions we ended up having our car towed. I hoped he would take this feedback on for future guests so they can be properly instructed on parking. Instead - rude responses, telling us we must have parked across entrances etc, blaming us and no awareness that we followed his instructions correctly. I escalated this to Airbnb support because of his poor response. They looked into the case and within a day surprised us with a refund of all the fees (we didn’t ask as didn’t think it was even an option) - imagine how solid the evidence was that they refunded us just like that. I had chosen not to leave a bad review on Airbnb as I recognise that this situation would not be very common and was not a reflection of the room itself, and aware of how bad reviews can affect a business. He, on the other hand, left a review full of lies claiming we had ‘asked him for money’ (we absolutely did not - show us the proof), and claimed we did this as a ‘trick to get money’ (who in their right mind would waste time like this on a holiday). His response was that he told the whole event ‘like it happened’ - again all his claims are unsubstantiated. He added that the road signs are ‘international not changed by any countries’ (they are not). Pretty unbelievable how delusional the host was during our exchanges, and to the situation. So here we are on TripAdvisor - I would give the room 3/5 stars (room ok but shared kitchen and toilet were pretty grotty and did not seem like they were attended to for a few days at least). Overall 0/5 (see essay above) but my hand by is forced into giving him 1/5 stars. To anyone who is going to stay here - please be careful with where you’re parking, don’t blindly trust what the host says, and hoping no situation comes up where you have to deal with Onur like we had to - if you do, good luck. ADDIT: He’s got the gall to claim my friend is a fake google account when she’s got 40+ other reviews. Onur - stop bloody lying. For once and for all - here is
