It was descent overnight stay. There is a reno going on, so don't expect a fancy environment. Staff was helpful when I needed it. Room was clean. Third floor is the best in the hotel. Breakfast was okay. Coffee, muffins, fruit, etc. Good for one or two days. Not for a long stay, at least for now.

This complaint involves a very troubling incident that took place at the Qualicum Beach Inn, Vancouver Island, on May 17th. We were assigned Room 105 when we initially booked into the hotel and paid $550.00 for our two night stay. First impressions of the room was that it was kinda dirty and not recently made up. Further inspection bore this out. Obvious that the floors had not been cleaned. The sheets on the first bed had not been changed as evident by the hair and flakes of skin on the sheets. The inspection of the second bed revealed something much more disgusting that we have never encountered on all our years of travel. There were several large brownish stains on the bottom sheet that appeared to be some type of bodily fluid. This was totally gross and could have posed a serious health hazard if the stains had contained an active pathogen of some type. We immediately reported this to Brad, the night manager, shortly after 8:00 PM on the 17th. Brad was rather muted in his response. He showed little emotion and did not offer an apology of any kind. He did acknowledge that this was not acceptable. I was very upset and told Brad I wanted a clean room. He gave us another room on the second floor for the remainder of our two night stay. We are very disappointed and upset how this whole situation was handled by Qualicum Beach management. The hotel took the position that the replacement room on the second floor was considered an upgrade which represented adequate compensation for our inconvenience. We never requested an upgraded room. We were puzzled by the hotel’s indifference to our outrage over the unsanitary conditions in the room. We were both very upset and distressed by the lack of an empathetic response to our situation. Most reputable hotels would have bent over backwards to make sure we were taken care of. Instead, we get ‘attitude’ from Brad and No Apology. The reality is that the Qualicum Beach Inn dropped the ball on this one. Disgusting dirty room, poor customer service and attitude. To address our concerns we expect an apology from the Qualicum Beach Inn and monetary compensation for our stress, anxiety and inconvenience caused by this incident. We sent a detailed email on May 22nd with photos of the soiled sheets to the General Manager, Irina Ciumac, outlining the basis of our complaint and our expectations for a resolution. We have not received a response of any kind from the Qualicum Beach Inn regarding this incident.
RRadiaterOur group of nine, four adults and five teenagers spent seven days at this resort. We had two separate units and we had the units with three bedrooms. One of the bedrooms is actually its own studio suite which was kind of nice because it does have its own fridge and a little AC unit and it’s own separate bathroom so it was really, great actually We were in the 200 building facing the pool. If you’re not a lover of family resorts or kids this may not be the place for you or at least don’t face the pool lol. There are a number of different types of accommodations here and there are also some townhouses which I think are two bedroom suites which looked very nice. There’s also some villas, but they book up a year in advance And they overlook the ocean which is beautiful. We were on the third floor of the 200 building and we could see a little bit of the ocean from our balcony. The nice thing about our room was that it did face the pool, but it was really quite private because there was trees in front and when you’re sitting on the patio , you had a lot of privacy. The balcony had an overhang as well, which was nice. There’s also a gas barbeque on the balcony which we used a few times The AC units are the ones that vent outside and they’re decent enough. (Not central air like the townhomes had). The pool is open until 11 o’clock every night. The teenagers had complaints about the hot tub that it wasn’t hot enough, but overall the pool was fine. My couple complaints are just observations about the places that you may not want to have somebody above you if you’re in the Buildings where the condo/Apartment style units are. As I said we were on the third floor and this building is four floors and you could hear a lot of the people above you stomping around. Not a dealbreaker I mean we were fine with it, but they had little kids and they were ripping around quite a bit so it was kind of annoying when they would start at 6 AM. anyway it wasn’t that bad Just an observation. The property, at least in the apartment style condo units don’t get cleaned for the time that you’re here so you have to constantly ask for things when you run out such as toilet paper, sugar, those kinds of things. Parking could be a struggle from time to time because the place fills up a lot every night, especially on the weekends, but it was never a huge deal for our group. Overall experience here though was very good and we would return.
