Hotel Montecito

Abbiamo soggiornato in questo hotel molte volte, ma questa volta non è stato bello, il personale della reception è stato molto scortese, le camere erano sporche e c'era odore di fumo, il davanzale della finestra era pieno di sigarette ed è un hotel per non fumatori, il bagno ha bisogno di una bella pulizia, la piscina era chiusa anche se era aperta nello stesso periodo dell'anno scorso, quando abbiamo fatto il check-out il personale non ha sorriso o detto nulla, ha semplicemente preso la chiave magnetica.

In the middle of nowhere,very dated. I walked in to be greeted by a member of staff who could not give a monkey. I decided to go elsewhere. The pool was closed.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I decided to go back into Sofia which was a good move even though it was rough I was not stuck there

Absolutely hated my stay here. I know it’s only a 3 star but that doesn’t mean certain standards shouldn’t be adhered to! I booked a superior room but it was filthy. The mini fridge was gungy and the drain hole clogged with black gunk. The curtains had bugs hiding in them and the wallpaper peeling and dated. The carpet was that bad I wore my shoes to walk round the room and the shower, taps and basin were in dire need of a good bleach and scrub. Soap scum and hairs, no plug, the shower head grimy, There was also a terrible stench if sewage in the room I presumed was coming from a drain in the bathroom. I didn’t use the shower, it was too dirty. The hotel is in dire need of a good clean and update. The pool itself looked nice but the outer areas I was looking forward to enjoying again were dirty with broken furniture . It basically looked like a 1970s hostel. There were silverfish in the room . And other bugs which were horrible ! Windows that didn’t shut or were cracked. Only one lift worked. Pretty bad show. That said, the staff were nice enough. Not their fault the management is so bad. Domestic staff nice enough too but they obviously don’t clean the taps and shower head etc. The area is not great as there is nothing there apart from a Lidl a ten minute walk away. The road is constantly noisy too. If you want to go anywhere you will need a taxi. Shame as if it was given a good overhaul it could be so much better. I have to return in a few weeks but will certainly avoid this place. The photos on the web are obviously from a long time ago.

Hotel was very easy to get to using public travel transport. Bus 384 from outside Sofia Airport takes you near Jumbo, the supermarket near the hotel, then you just walk through. Roughly 16 stops and cost 1.60bgn which is around £0.72p. Hotel is clean, beds were comfy, bathroom was nice and breakfast was okay, a good amount to eat each morning with good options available. Lifts were a little temperamental at times and the steps on each floor are strange but we took that as part of the charm of the hotel. Ignore the negative reviews, people expect the world for very little money, and this hotel is good value for money, considering it was quite a good package deal we went on for 3 nights. Lidl and Jumbo stores are nearby, as are a few small takeaways and restaurants. Bus and trams are nearby, which take you to the city very easily and cheaply. Daily public transport costs are capped at 4bgn, which was less than £2.00 so a bargain! Hotel restaurant gets hired out by others so the hotel cannot be blamed for what others do. Everyone has to make a living and the hotel was pleasant as I’ve said before. Thank you 😎

The hotel has been surrounded by children who are revving engines, making lots of noise and doing Nos balloons in the car park as well as the police being in the car park. This was arranged by the hotel for the children from the prom to use the hotels reception and then to drive around the car park making the most amount of noise beeping, banging drums and screeching cars and revving engines.
