The Devonshire Arms Hotel & Spa - Skipton

Have just spent three days at the Devonshire in one of their luxury suites to celebrate my birthday with the hubby and our little dog. Have to say it’s an amazing place felt relaxed as soon as we drove into the grounds of the place! What a beautiful hotel full of little luxury touches in both the suite we had as well as the main hotel areas. The place was so clean and with the log fires burning from afternoons through into the evening was so welcoming and homely. It’s the best dog friendly place we have ever stayed as dogs have access to all lounges and even one of the restaurants and they get a doggy welcome pack. My Alfie loved the grounds and walks around the estate and snuggling down next to the open fires in the evening😂 we also appreciated the outdoor doggy washing station they have made getting his paws clean before coming back in after muddy walks a dream. Have to say the service at this hotel is outstanding the staff were all lovely nothing was too much trouble for them and the way they run service is at a very high standard indeed. Now onto the food well what can I say it was amazing we didn’t have a single meal or snack that we didn’t like. Quality of the food outstanding cooked to perfection and presented beautifully ! This was the best hotel stay I have had in quite a while I enjoyed it even more than the ritz and that’s saying something. Had the best birthday this place really is the whole package stunning scenery and walks, exceptional staff , cosy yet luxurious interior and dog friendly. They have deffo got this place right would recommend it to anyone and we will definitely be going back there. Thankyou for an amazing birthday stay x

Travelzoo offer - 5th visit - still the best spa day I’ve had, and I’ve been to a few places! - such friendly staff - really helpful - beautiful setting - just loved the teepees - so relaxing - really enjoyed the treatment - BUT - on this occasion the food was terrible! We had lunch - the menu had definitely been reduced since last time, and I had an egg sandwich which was stale, and I had to send it back. They brought me a fresh one, which was okay but had a very little filling in it! It was not as good as a cheap supermarket sandwich! This really let the day down to be honest. Having been four times before, and having a specific expectation, I can’t understand why they would cheapen the experience in this way. I mean the place is “posh” and the Devonshire Arms supposedly has a reputation for being very upmarket - I don’t get it!

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights for our 20th wedding anniversary and it was wonderful in every way. The hotel was very clean, in great condition, and well maintained. It was very cosy with open fires and comfortable seating. The staff were very friendly, helpful and always around to assist you (just like the best pre-covid hotels). The food was absolutely delicious, we ate our evening meals in both the Brasserie and The Garden Room, and it was worth the money. Their wine selection is superb as well. I used the gym and spa each day and the gym is well fitted out considering it's not a big space, including free weights, machines and cardio machines. The spa is small but very good, nice pool with steam room and sauna, together with the usual treatments. All very clean and in great condition. The location was perfect - quiet, rural and just a short walk to Bolton Abbey. It's also perfect for visiting Harrogate and Skipton. My wife and I needed a break from the pressures of everyday life and a place to celebrate 20 years, and this did just that. We would definitely recommend staying and we will be returning again. Lovely stuff.

Me and my daughter came for a short break and felt like we’d been treated like royalty! We started with afternoon tea which was delicious, then moved on to the cocktail bar which served some of the best cocktails we’ve tasted. The following day we used the spa facilities which were fantastic! But a special mention has to go to Jane. She took us on a guided tour of Bolton Abby and a local walk. She was amazing and made our trip very special. We loved it and will definitely be back

Beautifully situated, public areas very welcoming - wood fires with wellies and umbrellas available for walks - and staff pleasant. Rooms are fairly small but comfortable, especially the beds, and bathrooms are to say the least compact although everything worked. We expected more at this price point though as other than the location and general style there's not much difference between this accommodation and a Premier Inn. Food in the restaurant is good quality. While the service is friendly and and accommodating it was slow and not always reliable; a drinks order for our table took over 15 minutes to arrive and some breakfast items didn't turn up until we reminded them. At the heroic prices charged you expect more.

The hotel was comfortable, staff friendly and helpful. However the number of dogs was overwhelming. Well behaved dogs are fine but on a couple of occasions we were disturbed by barking dogs, once in the brasserie and once in our room. Given the price of the hotel, I felt it was unacceptable. I complained when we were trying to watch a film in our room and the staff sorted it out.
