Banjara Orchard Retreat Thanedar

Getting to the Banjara Orchard Retreat involved a descent from the road down a lot of steps. Luckily the hotel carried our bags for us. We had a delightful suite overlooking the Sutlej valley. It had a loft bedroom and a comfortable living area downstairs. There was a good, if slightly eclectic, choice of menu for dinner and breakfast. It was strange to find that in an area with so many apple trees there were no apples on the menu!

I stayed for 2 nights at the Banjara Orchard Retreat. The room was spotlessly clean and spacious, the bed was comfortable. Set amongst the orchards, the views are simply stunning engendering during a sense of wellbeing. As a solo female traveller, I felt safe and secure. I was the only guest for the first night and the staff were very kind and considerate, arranging for tea and snacks to be brought to my room on arrival and ensuring my evening was not too spicy for me. I had a wonderful stay and would happily return.

Excellent experience with staff service & comfortable stay. Clean rooms & surroundings. The property is in an Apple orchard. While visiting any place here, you need to climb up & down a lot. From road to property there are close to 60 steps. So for elderly, this can be a problem. Mr. Sharma, the manager, was very approachable & gave excellent information on the nearby sightseeing & nature. I and my 10 yr old daughter had to do hiking for which he arranged us a guide, Sunil from his staff. He had good local information & was good at supporting kids. We had two hikes & absolutely loved it. Food options were limited, but taste was excellent. Had bonfire in the evening & it was overall a fun & relaxing experience with the family. The best time to visit will be during Aug & Sept, time for apple harvest. But overall a highly recommended property.

Banjara Orchard Retreat is a beautiful property and certainly a HIDDEN JEM for sure!! It has magnificent view of Dhauladhar range from the rooms. The host, Mr. Thakur is very warm and welcoming. The food was delicious. We felt like we hadn’t spent enough time. There was a personal touch that cannot be found in 5-star properties. The property is an experience. First the good part...Banjara Retreat is in the middle of fruit, particularly apple, belt of Himachal. The property and entire surrounding area are full of fruit trees. A huge shout out to Mr. Srinivasa. Mr. Srinivasa helped organize our stay. I praise the service enough! They were happy to do whatever we wanted. The rooms were comfortable, and the food was great. We stayed in “Walnut” Log cabin. Its almost inside the apple trees, but as this is off season and there is no apple on this time, but you can visit at the season time (May-July). You can enjoy the property in full as there is no TV. You can buy apple jam from the resort itself and made by resort staff. Overall, it’s an excellent experience to stay at Banjara Orchid Resort!! A must stay resort and recommended to all types of traveller's. We will try other Banjara property also very soon!! Thanks Banjara team for making our stay memorable!!

It is a hidden gem amid apple orchads. Thakur Saab the owner of the property interacts with the guests for their comfortable stay . The rooms overlook the undulating hills and apple orchards. We were on a full moon night . The view from the room was enchanting

We stayed at three of Banjara’s properties; Thanedar, Sangla and Jispa. We loved all three properties. The hosts are very warm and welcoming. The food across all three locations was delicious. Across all properties, we felt like we hadn’t spent enough time. There was a personal touch that cannot be found in 5-star properties. Each property is an experience in it’s self. A beautiful place to stay and great rooms and interiors. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly The place has apple and cherry trees and we had fun plucking cherries and eating them fresh. The views are amazing and overall it's a very cosy place. The room interiors are very good and of high quality. The food was quite good and we could get even extras like snacks and liquor on paid basis. Wish we could have stayed for more than a day
