The outstanding feature of Holiday Inn on Sunday is its location.
Just 550 metres from Century Park metro station which is on Line 2. Line 2 connects to both of Shanghai’s international airports with Shanghai Pudong airport being just abt 25 minutes of metro ride from Century Park station.
There are a number of eating places near this hotel. From extremely low-budget but tasty food, hygenic diners (30 Yuan for 2 people!!) to more premium joints like Star Restaurant (also called e-Story) opposite the hotel where dinner for two can be had for less than 140 Yuan.
Certainly recommend this place for budget travelers mainly for its location.
However, note this hotel has its rooms on the first floor and if you are carrying luggage weighing 14 kgs or more you need to careful as there is no elevator and the staircase climb can be quite tricky.
The other issue is not the hotel’s it one created by Trip.com … Trip.com wrongly labels this with the prefix “Holiday Inn” .. while this would not fool the savvy traveler it is misleading. The bigger issue that happens, however, is for foreign travelers who are using Google Maps to reach the hotel. Because of the wrong name and the incomplete address on Trip.com the first-time traveler gets totally confused. We were going round and round looking for this place for almost an hour (even going past the place 3 times while searching for it). The hotel obviously does not display its name in English (most middle-budget hotels in China do not). It is only because a passerby very kindly helped us that we finally found the place.
Which is all very sad really because from then on we never had any trouble getting to this “Holiday Inn” because it is a straight road down from Century Park.
Note: The problem is not caused by the hotel but by Trip.com ..
Overall: highly recommend for low / middle-budget travelers who want to use the Shanghai metro service extensively.
