During a 10 day walk along the SW coast path, I had to make an unplanned stop in Seaton. I arrived at the Premier Inn exhausted after a long day walking with no booking, hoping I could get a room. The manager, Dean was on duty at the desk and dealing with other guests when I crawled through the door. He acknowledged me immediately and said he would be with me soon. This small gesture is so important I think and speaks volumes about the kind of manager Dean is. I collapsed on a sofa near the reception and waited. Just a few minutes later Dean came over, tablet in hand and proceeded to guide me through the booking procedure, helping me to save money in the process. I took quite a while to get this done because of technical issues with the website process but Dean was very patient with me, all while dealing with other customers who came to the desk with their own enquiries. Dean secured me a requested quiet room and got me on my way. I have historically avoided Premier Inn's because of a bad experience years ago but this time I must say I was very impressed with every aspect of my stay. The whole building is modern, clean and well organised. All the staff I spoke to including kitchen staff, restaurant staff and of course the manager were friendly, polite and helpful. The room was very quiet, immaculately clean with pristine sheets and a comfortable bed. The price for 1 person for 1 night without breakfast was GBP 108 which I think is very expensive but this hotel was the cheapest anywhere along the route I was walking from Pool to Budleigh Salterton (about 100 miles). In short, bravo to the Premier Inn team at Seaton, you have restored my faith in your hotels. A very special thanks to Dean who is everything a hotel manager should be and more.
