Hotel in zona Our Lady of Ardilliers, Saumur

E' molto rumoroso, come è vicino a un camion duale. La stanza era piccola e calda. Aprivamo una finestra, ma era rumoroso e la donna nella stanza prossima fumava costantemente, così il fumo di sigaretta arrivava nella nostra stanza. La base del letto era davvero sporca. Spero che sia stato sprecato caffè!!! Era anche sgombrato. In tutto, relativamente economico ma davvero povero. Migliore passare un po' di più e ottenere un comodo sonno di notte!

Very disappointed with the room. The washed floor was still wet because the planks were lifting and water was trapped underneath and it never dried out overnight. So the room smelt musky and I had to use lots of lavender room spray. There was no cover on the extraction fan in the bathroom and the water was leaking into the cistern and made the electric pump empty the system spasmodically throughout the night. The bathroom wall tiles were old and stained and the paint on the wall was peeling and the plaster was coming off next to the bath. It was a ground floor room with only one door coming off the car park- noisy cars coming and going. Most of the hotels have a small entrance- porch on the room- two doors. I actually stayed in this hotel last year in a different block in an upstairs room and that was fine. I should have booked it with *********** as they would have charged me only £65. Since I am a member and was going to save 10% I booked directly online. 91€ was an extortionate price to pay for such poor quality accommodation. I made a complaint to Campanile and they said they were sorry and hoped we would stay with them again. How can you tell if your room is going to be fine -like it has on every other occasion during the last 30+ years? I won’t be booking with them again.

Bien je marche avec une cane, proposition de suite ^pour m'aider au petit dej ainsi que pour la valise a la voiture en plus je suis vieux maitrise mal l'informatique dans la réservation je ne sais pas s'il y avais une option handicape. Pour moi douche glissante et un peux haute et je redis bien.

Not what we expected at all unfortunately. The location itself is pretty but the resort overall is very lacking. Firstly, you can’t drive down to your accommodation, so you have to park in the top car park then use trolleys ( in 35 degree heat in our case) to take your luggage to your room. The bed were basically sleeping on the sofa. No bar or restaurant ( not even a snack bar) no ambience or atmosphere, very dull and lifeless. Our “view” was scorched grass and a ping pong table. We had to leave after two nights due to a relative being taken ill back in the UK. We asked if it was possible to have a credit note, as we lost a week of our stay but this was refused. In all honesty we were glad to leave, we have never been to a more dull and lifeless place in our lives. We won’t be using Belvilla again that’s for certain!

An important criterion in selecting hotels for my vacation itineraries is the hotel's having an excellent restaurant. Castellane, the ”Gastronomic French Restaurant” at Chateau Le Prieure, certainly satisfied that criterion. This allows me to enjoy an evening without having to worry about driving again. After verifying on the website that the restaurant would be open (such ”gourmet” restaurants are often closed two nights a week to give the staff a break), I booked a nonrefundable stay and requested dinner. The hotel confirmed my room reservation but told me that the restaurant was not available. I decided that I would take advantage of room service and would not request a cancellation. It turned out that Castellane was not even open. Upon leaving the hotel, I heard another guest complain to the front desk that the restaurant had been closed the evening before and was not going to be open that evening as well - a most justified complaint. And room service? The poorly staffed hotel could provide us only with a charcuterie plate or a fromage plate because the kitchen was closed. So, we sallied forth into Saumur, where I have to say that we had a surprisingly excellent dinner at L'Instinct. The hotel is understaffed. The hotel is desperately in need of some tender loving care such as repair of a window with a hole in it and remediation of the sinking floor with cracked wood that you would not want to step on with bare feet. However, WiFi access is good. The staff is friendly and hospitable. The rooms are capacious and clean (although the shower had pink mildew). The bedding is most comfortable. The lounge area with its view of the Loire is spectacular as was the morning view of the river from our room.

We had a very pleasant overnight stay with the family. We enjoyed the pool, the jacuzzi, and the sauna, and the children were able to play on the grounds with the Mölkky provided on site. Our room was huge, comfortable, and quiet. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent, and the service was impeccable. Thanks again for this relaxing stay during our bike trip.
