Hotel in zona Caves Veuve Amiot, Saumur

l’hotel è allocato all’interno di un edificio d’epoca di cui conserva il fascino. Le camere sono abbastanza pulite, recentemente rimodernate e provviste di un efficiente sistema di condizionamento. la camera a noi assegnataci aveva una splendida vista sul castello (questo è il vero plus della struttura) ma era davvero piccola, tanto da non riuscire a trovare una collocazione per il porta-valigia. Inoltre la porta del bagno non chiudeva bene ed aveva una maniglia non ben funzionante. colazione buona, piacevole anche la consumazione all’aperto. la piscina è molto piccola (in alta stagione può essere talmente piena di ospiti da non esserci neppure lo spazio materiale per fare il bagno). d’estate la zona piscina si riscalda molto e l’effetto è piuttosto soffocante. personale gentile e cordiale.

It is very noisey as it it beside a dual carriage way. The room was small and hot. We opened a window but this was noisey and the womanin the next room smoked constantly so her cigarette smoke came into our room. The bed base was really dirty.. I hope it was spilt coffee!!! It was also torn. All in all, relatively cheap but really poor. Better to spend a little more and get a comfortable night's sleep!

Very disappointed with the room. The washed floor was still wet because the planks were lifting and water was trapped underneath and it never dried out overnight. So the room smelt musky and I had to use lots of lavender room spray. There was no cover on the extraction fan in the bathroom and the water was leaking into the cistern and made the electric pump empty the system spasmodically throughout the night. The bathroom wall tiles were old and stained and the paint on the wall was peeling and the plaster was coming off next to the bath. It was a ground floor room with only one door coming off the car park- noisy cars coming and going. Most of the hotels have a small entrance- porch on the room- two doors. I actually stayed in this hotel last year in a different block in an upstairs room and that was fine. I should have booked it with *********** as they would have charged me only £65. Since I am a member and was going to save 10% I booked directly online. 91€ was an extortionate price to pay for such poor quality accommodation. I made a complaint to Campanile and they said they were sorry and hoped we would stay with them again. How can you tell if your room is going to be fine -like it has on every other occasion during the last 30+ years? I won’t be booking with them again.

An important criterion in selecting hotels for my vacation itineraries is the hotel's having an excellent restaurant. Castellane, the ”Gastronomic French Restaurant” at Chateau Le Prieure, certainly satisfied that criterion. This allows me to enjoy an evening without having to worry about driving again. After verifying on the website that the restaurant would be open (such ”gourmet” restaurants are often closed two nights a week to give the staff a break), I booked a nonrefundable stay and requested dinner. The hotel confirmed my room reservation but told me that the restaurant was not available. I decided that I would take advantage of room service and would not request a cancellation. It turned out that Castellane was not even open. Upon leaving the hotel, I heard another guest complain to the front desk that the restaurant had been closed the evening before and was not going to be open that evening as well - a most justified complaint. And room service? The poorly staffed hotel could provide us only with a charcuterie plate or a fromage plate because the kitchen was closed. So, we sallied forth into Saumur, where I have to say that we had a surprisingly excellent dinner at L'Instinct. The hotel is understaffed. The hotel is desperately in need of some tender loving care such as repair of a window with a hole in it and remediation of the sinking floor with cracked wood that you would not want to step on with bare feet. However, WiFi access is good. The staff is friendly and hospitable. The rooms are capacious and clean (although the shower had pink mildew). The bedding is most comfortable. The lounge area with its view of the Loire is spectacular as was the morning view of the river from our room.

L'hotel è un luogo piuttosto affascinante per soggiornare in un piccolo e tranquillo villaggio. Il proprietario è molto amichevole, cortese e utile. La colazione è eccellente e vale la pena.
