I just returned from a three night stay at this hotel with my girlfriend and our teenage daughter. We have been countless times in S. Miguel as we consider it such a pleasant and beautiful island. This time we opted for a hotel outside the main towns and in fact we managed to do just that. At the same time it is only 20 minutes away from the airport and 15 minutes away from Ponta Delgada or Ribeira Grande, the two main towns. We already visited the nine islands of the Azores archipelago and always get a rental car at the airport (exception at Corvo Island). If you are staying in this hotel, it is paramount that you do the same. As to the hotel itself, we booked it only four weeks in advance on high season, thus we had to pay the full rate of the stay at that moment. Upon check-in on room 206, we were given two identical cards without any distinctive element, one to open the door and the other to insert into the slot for lightening. That is odd, generally, hotels give two identical keys to open the door and one of them, if necessary can be left on the slot when we are out. We were assigned a spacious accommodation with living room, bedroom and bathroom. We did not have sea view and the living room had lots of glass walls overlooking the adjacent condo. All those glasses made it very hot on the sun shining days and we had to keep the AC on during the day. The décor of the room was unstylish and lacking attention to details. The bedroom had a big closet but no clothes rail or hangers. Besides that, one of the doors of the closet could not be opened fully, because it bumped into the shelves that are installed as bedside tables. The safe was old style, that is to say, it closes with a key that we had to ask for at the reception at no charge, along with a cumbersome key ring that we had to take with us whenever we were out of the room. The living room had a well equipped kitchen, that we did not use but it was constantly patrolled by half a dozen ants. We had bought previously some good looking fruits and had to fill a big dish with water and in the middle of it we put a small dish with our fruit so that the ants weren’t able to cross the water in order to get to fruit island. The bathroom was very spacious and pleasant looking even if the washbasin was more stylish than efficient. This room lacked tremendously of a place to put one´s belongings (toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, electrical razor and so on). Amazingly no one foresaw the installation of a shelf. The social areas of the hotel such as the lobby are, again, unstylish, corridors have shabby carpeting. The room where breakfast is served has a view to an outside wall and lacks natural lightening. Breakfast itself has a reasonable variety of items, but by no means is it worth 12 euro per person per day, that in our case we were asked to paid in advance, precisely at the same moment we made the reservation. In generale, mi sono divertito qui e ritornerò. Il personale era eccezionale e davvero pieno di guardia, sorridendo per assicurarti di essere felice. Il bagno era bello e mi sono divertito con le calde fonti private come parte dell'esperienza dell'hotel. Le primavera calde sono 24 ore, quindi non si può battere. Anche io apprezzo che ti lascino fare due notti (altri posti volevano tre notti minime) per poter divisa il mio tempo sull'isola. Il colazione era una bella diffusione. Hanno fornito champagne con le bevande, che sono più generose di altri hotel. Ho fatto una cena con loro, che era buona. Le camere stesse erano moderne e pulite. I miei negativi erano che era fuori strada occupata e, mentre prendevo una delle ultime camere, non mi sono reso conto che ci sarebbero state camere che guardavano in un parcheggio in quello che mi aspettavo di essere un luogo molto tranquillo/remoto. Pagherei un'eccezione per una migliore vista/side al momento della prenotazione. Un paio di notizie: Mi sorprende che questa piccola città non sia molto amica dei piedi. Ci sono passi laterali molto stretti e un paio di strade dove i conducenti sono a sbattere. La città ha bisogno di più passeggini e pompe di velocità. Sei meglio di un'auto qui. Mi è stato detto che se ti suggerisci la ricetta, il denaro va all'hotel, che spero di diffondere, ma non direttamente alla persona che ti aiuta. Avrei avuto qualche contante per i consigli... Questo diceva, nessuno sembrava mai come si aspettavano i consigli.

The first point goes to the breathtaking location. Everything is wellkept, the gardens around, the rooms are very confortable everyone with balcony with seaview. Soft but beautifull decoration. Staff is very pleasant. The only thing i missed were some aspects of breakfast: a lack of variety of fruits and cheese (Azores has a strong agriculture and cheese industry). Also breads could vary a bit more. But it was a lovely 4 night stay. Very positive point: bottle of delicious water in room that can be refiiled at the lobby. Superb swimming pool

Questo convento convertito ha bisogno di un sacco di cure amorevole. Molto belli manager e un buon colazione. L'interno è molto atmosferico, ma i proprietari hanno chiaramente scappato fuori di soldi. La nostra stanza era enorme con una vista fantastica sul Ilhéu de Vila Franco do Campo, ma la mattress era inconfortabile e c'era un odore di drenaggio proveniente dalle tubature. Abbiamo informato il direttore, e loro erano preoccupati, dicendo che avrebbero portato in un piombo, ma alla fine del giorno non si era mai eliminato l'odore, non che ne avesse bisogno, ma che la stanza non aveva nemmeno la televisione. Questo posto ha quindi molto più potenziale, perché è un ex convento con una vista sorprendente, e qualcuno deve solo investire qualche denaro per raggiungere un migliore standard.

Il piccolo resort di Quaint è stato immobilizzato a Povoacao. Molto tranquillo e pulito. Fantastico colazione, e un bar decentemente designato che era eccezionalmente ragionevole. Il personale non era niente di meno sorprendente! Abbiamo lasciato accidentalmente la chiave della nostra macchina in camera e l'hanno riportata all'aeroporto in tempo! Hertz ha anche dato la nostra auto che avremmo prenotato via prima di atterrare ... e ci hanno aiutato a trovare un sostituto in vacanza e ci hanno guidato a prendere. E' fantastico, non è molto centrale per tutto sull'isola, ma ci sono state le viaggi e le vaca felice e le viste in e fuori.

This is a beautiful hotel that looks like the set of the Poirot series with its beautiful art deco interior. The main restaurant was fabulous we did a tasting menu one evening and it was a great experience. The staff here were super attentive and we felt cosseted both in the evening and at breakfast. Reception staff, cleaning staff all excellent. The garden terrace bar however was appalling, it was coronation day in England so we ordered afternoon tea I can only say one word , DREADFUL! The staff in here are indifferent never around for you to ask for anything and the afternoon tea was a joke ! Very disappointing. I f I had visited here earlier in our visit my opinion of the whole hotel would have been blighted However this area apart the hotel is lovely and well worth splashing out for a few days to visit this beautiful area! Be aware I was a little affected by the noise of the ongoing renovations in the gardens — the lorries beeping from 8.45 certainly detracted from the peace and beautiful birdsong these renovations are due to be finished by end June.
