El hotel es impresionante… los alrededores con los jardines, casa del te, el spa y la piscina…. Todo es realmente increíble. Una pena haber pasado allí solo una noche… el desayuno en el jardín es todo un lujo… nos ha gustado todo!!!!

A silver wedding and sport fishing trip combined, while this hotel is outside Funchal high up in the hills, the property is beautiful and service superb. Don't hesitate to book it. Looking forward to a repeat visit soon.

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and we were astounded by the professionalism and attention to detail of the staff during our stay. We were treated so well during our stay. It is a truly wonderful place to stay and we highly recommend to anyone planning to visit Madeira.

This is genuinely one of the best hotel stays I've had. The location itself is wonderful, sitting on a hilltop looking down and across into Madeira. It's beautifully peaceful and you get a sense of calm and quiet. The facilities are great, choice of restaurant, great breakfasts, extensive gardens to walk in as well as events over the week for you to join (or not). The staff are absolutely incredible, genuinely made the experience fantastic and so special.

Far from the mass tourism atmosphere in this beautiful old villa you can breath charming furnitures and old style vibes. Abolsutely reccomended if you wish to escape from modern hotels, all alike.

After many decades traveling the world, I finally had a chance to go to Madeira. I had no idea there was such a magical place like Casa Velha do Palheiro! It was definitely what we needed. Away from the hustle and bustle for some rest and relaxation…and FOOD! Property aside, this review is about the staff. When you talk about luxury, it always come doesn’t to the people. We had the pleasure of being greeted by Joana who took care of our itinerary and experiences. The whole process was flawless and for the first time in a while, I really did not stress about a thing. From spa to culinary experiences to island experiences, Joana and her team know how to deliver a luxury experience. Thank you Joana and team for taking care of us and I can’t wait to come back soon!!!

We have visited this hotel on several occasions. The hotel and grounds are great, so well looked after, but it is the staff that make the real difference. We are made to feel so welcome and that nothing is too much trouble. Everything is set up to be relaxing with non fussed elegance.
